ICE arrests 212 illegals, targets 122 businesses in LA sweep

Federal deportation officers staged one of the biggest enforcement actions in years against businesses in Los Angeles this week, arresting 212 people and serving audit notices to 122 businesses who will have to prove they aren’t hiring illegal immigrants.

Nearly all of those arrested were convicted criminals, according to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

ICE said it targeted Los Angeles because it’s a sanctuary city, meaning it refuses to fully cooperate with federal authorities on deportations from within its jails.

That means agents and officers have to go out into the community, said Thomas D. Homan, the agency’s deputy director.

Why so few? 212 per day for 7 years is only 541K, which is nothing to the 30-60 million here.

The cascade effect is huge. We are hearing all kinds of sob stories where illegals are afraid to go out because they fear getting caught. There is another thread where a fruit picker claims 70% turnover. We are hearing all the LSM tear jerking stories of dreamers or their parents getting busted and deported "tearing up families".

The icing on the cake is, in retaliation, the dreamers are threatening that they will self-deport to show us how unfair our immigration plan is.

The business audit will result in a lot of fines and many hundreds if not thousands of fired illegals. Hopefully they won’t qualify for unemployment Ins. but it is Kalifornia so I shouldn’t knew better.

The headline writer is illiterate.

LA = Louisiana

L.A. = Los Angeles

Deny all government benefits, driver’s licenses, health care to illegals. They will self deport in droves.

Thunk you’re protected as a “sanctuary city?” Pardon us while we prove how wrong you are.

Coming soon, I hope, incredibly harsh laws cracking down on sanctuary cities.

However those audit notices requiring these owners to prove they’re not hiring illegals is the big deal in these sweeps, in effect that’s going to get the attention of all business owners.

Having been an employer from before the I-9 implementation to well after, I can tell you employers have been getting notices from Social Security for decades when a number is used by multiples. So either the employer has not followed Federal law in completing and submitting I-9's or they ignored the notices until they had the questionable employee submit a new bogus number(actually happens a lot with greedy employers) or they terminate the questionable employee who just goes and gets another job with the phony ID or new phony ID.

What I'm saying is the tools have been there for decades, it's the will to actually use them that has been lacking.

I can't wait for the liberals to start crying about how they can't get served at their favorite QSR or sit down restaurant because poor little Julio or Marcella have finally been busted. As for me I don't mind eating home cooked for as long as it takes. And maybe the gardening industry will be reclaimed by Asians.

And, it gets the attention of other illegals, some (not all, but some) of whom will leave before they’re booted out.

Your lips to God’s ears.

Maybe they’ll start arresting and prosecuting the elected officials passing these illegal sanctuary policies but that’s a big IF.

So much for LA being a sanctuary city and Kalifornia being a sanctuary state.

ICE should focus on those locales where the politicians and local authorities say they will refuse to cooperate with ICE in apprehending illegals.

These liberals are realizing quickly that Trump is no Obama when it comes to enforcing the federal immigration laws.
