Federal deportation officers staged one of the biggest enforcement actions in years against businesses in Los Angeles this week, arresting 212 people and serving audit notices to 122 businesses who will have to prove they arent hiring illegal immigrants.
Nearly all of those arrested were convicted criminals, according to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
ICE said it targeted Los Angeles because its a sanctuary city, meaning it refuses to fully cooperate with federal authorities on deportations from within its jails.
That means agents and officers have to go out into the community, said Thomas D. Homan, the agencys deputy director.

There's a new sheriff in town and business owners hiring illegal aliens are learning that the hard way.
Pretty soon the total deported with be more than the DACA punks.
hmmm
It would be more effective if the headline read “ICE Arrests 122 Business Owners”. Chasing millions of illegals with nothing to lose, and who just sneak back acroos the border for another job, is a losing game.
winning. Love this, right in the belly of the beast.
Nice small start.
Needs to be ramped up and repeated.
Daily.
For years.
We have had 30 years of non-enforcement under four Presidents.
That’s how we ended up with 30 million illegal aliens.
This is a result of sanctuary city policies of not helping. Local officials will not help locate wanted illegals. ICE then has to round up everyone they come across, instead of just the ones they want. So you tend to get more deportations in sanctuary cities when ICE shows up.
Give a man a fish and feed him for a day.
Kick his ass out of the country and you’ll never have to feed him again.
Spit!
Why so few? 212 per day for 7 years is only 541K, which is nothing to the 30-60 million here.
I hear ya.
However those audit notices requiring these owners to prove they’re not hiring illegals is the big deal in these sweeps, in effect that’s going to get the attention of all business owners.
This is like speeding tickets. You ticket one guy to slow every body else down.
This is a good thing. It makes them nervous and “keeps them closer to the speed limit” even if they weren’t directly affected by this one.
Or even better, “Illegals cannot get a dime from local, state or federal government. EVER.”
Home Depot early in the morning is a good start. Many wait there for contrac tors to pick them up for work.

they should come to Hazleton PA. We just hired a permanent resident Alien who has been in this country since 2002 still can’t speak english and is not an American Citizen yet!
It’s kinda’ funny that sanctuary city policies are probably causing more deportations, not less.
ICE has a list of illegals they want to deport, usually for criminal activity. The city won’t help locate those aliens, so ICE is forced to just do at large raids and check on everyone they find.
If the city would help, ICE would only round up those on the list.
How can this happen!!!??!?!
We need a ticker tape on the news everyday better than stock market
“winning. Love this, right in the belly of the beast.”
Listen for Garcetti & Co. to start their “amen chorus” bleating about how “unfair” this is to LA’s “undocumented Mexican citizens” later today!
