The bill sailed to house passage. The state senate is considering a similar bill.
One of the house bill sponsors wants year-round DST as a boost to tourism courtesy of later sunsets.
Enactment would require Congressional approval.
I would like to see the language of the bill as to how soon it would take effect should Congress approve the change.

YESSSSS!!!
I agree, and not having to do the stupid clock change is a big bonus.
This is silly talk... no one is suggesting man is moving the position of the sun/earth. Time, as in a 24 hour, 60 min to the hour day, is a human invention.... fooling with that has nothing to do with God's will.
AND it will still be light when I get out of work in the winter... Maybe can do some outside stuff longer in the season. For me that works.
“Yes....more winning! Wish Trump would push this nationally!”
When I was in the House of Representatives in my NE United States 9th grade American History class, I introduced such a bill and was quickly shut down, because there were far too many other important bills to discuss and promote, such as the ERA.
What really sucks on the Panhandle is the Eastern/Central Time zone change line just East of Panama City.
House approves push for [year round] daylight-saving time
My car radio already observes this, as the buttons and instructions are too small for me to put on reading glasses while driving to make the adjustment twice a year, especially when I have to go “back” 11 hours in the Fall.
On the big plus side, Big Media would no longer be able to convince people coming home from work that the polls had closed an hour early.
True.
Nooooooo. Many times nooooooo. It is a senseless idea.
We could use some mountains. It will help with the skiing.
I also want it.
Maine is the Easternmost point in the US, and should be on Atlantic time. Straight North of us is.
I hate moving the clocks back and forth...it’s just plain stupid.
More to the point to have school children out on the morning dark roads is rather dangerous.
I don't benefit from it, and I'm about as "Northern" as it gets. It frigs everybody up and serves no real purpose. If they want to help out the school kids...change the school hours.
DST: Dumb idea Ben.
Move school starting times forward.
A study I read a while back indicates that high school students aren’t really awake until at least 10:00 AM. I believe I observed this also while teaching high school in the 70s and 80s.
I’m all in favor of springing forward a half hour, or falling back a half hour and never moving again.
Horrible idea.

I think you want to move starting times backward.
Half hour adjustments would really make flying across country difficult.
That would essentially put Florida on Atlantic Time, the same as Puerto Rico.
The Marlins and Rays would never play a road game in their time zone.
I always think of that time zone split in terms of elections...that’s the most conservative / Republican part of the state - remember how the networks almost pulled off stealing the election by announcing repeatedly the polls were all closed in Florida for an hour while they were still open there, and even many of them calling the state for Gore while they were still open there, which was proven to have severely depressed turnout in that part of the state during that last hour of polls being open. Had they not done that, all of that fiasco with the recounts of recounts, court battles, etc. would not have occurred as Bush would have won the state by several thousand more votes. Amazing how close they came to pulling it off. https://youtu.be/EoBjCEWadi0?t=1h22m52s

I'm glad someone else gets this besides me. I hate going to work in the dark and coming home in the dark....God created the day and the night but he didn't invent the clock. I don't think He cares how we divide the time.
Florida's mosquitoes (but especially no-see-ums) are waiting for you at dawn and dusk.
Personally, I don't prefer DST. I say just do away with it, period, end of story, case closed.
