The bill sailed to house passage. The state senate is considering a similar bill.
One of the house bill sponsors wants year-round DST as a boost to tourism courtesy of later sunsets.
Enactment would require Congressional approval.
I would like to see the language of the bill as to how soon it would take effect should Congress approve the change.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
California needs the same thing. It’s pointless resetting the clocks twice a year. The morning light for bus taking school kids is not that much different throughout the year.
Absolutely the best thing that could happen. YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So much for the definition of “noon”.
Yes....more winning! Wish Trump would push this nationally!
What a stupid idea. The sun will not be held back. The yearly cycle of daylight is not going to change, no matter how many laws against it.
Don’t they have anything better to do then play with clocks !!!
We don’t need to create 50 different state time zones and time schemes in this country. Businesses need to know that the entire swatch, north to south, works on the same business day clock as they do. We don’t need Taxachusetts on one system and Florida on a second, and yet NY or Georgia on a third one.
This is madness. If anything Florida is far enough south to be on standard time year round, like all the Caribbean islands are.
Too much god playing by elected idiots.
I vote yes: eliminate DST.
The pretext is the same as global warming.....man can make it better.
We're so vain.
Or how about the same thing but calling it ...
Whole state on central time zone at standard time. Same thing.
Clowns.
” Its pointless resetting the clocks twice a year.”
All my ‘clocks’ reset themselves.
For example, I've read where, during the James Meredith Ole Miss brouhaha in late Sept. 1962, Mississippi was on CST at that time of year, while DC (where RFK's DoJ was monitoring the situation) was on EDT, ie, a 2 hour difference.
Is there such a site?

So Florida will be on Central Standard Time, except the the western panhandle which will be on Mountain Standard Time.
I would prefer to have year-round standard time. I hate having to get up in the morning in pitch darkness.
YESSSSS!!!
We are not God. Stop trying to be Him.
I live in the Fla panhandle where Alabama is very close by. Lot of talk up here from people who cross the state line on a daily basis of how much confusion this will bring . I like the idea of more daylight though. Hope it passes. Btw already on cst which is often ignored by many i.e. 2000 election fiasco.
The real issue is that the further south one goes, the less variation in length of day from summer to winter.
So, southern states would benefit from permanent DST, northern ones not so much.
