Bipartisan group of senators says it has a DACA deal Bipartisan group of senators says it has a DACA deal 2 Hours Ago | 01:04

A bipartisan group of senators working on immigration legislation has reportedly reached a consensus.

The deal will be announced later Wednesday, senators involved in the so-called Common Sense Coalition told reporters after a closed-door meeting.

"It's going to be ready today," said Sen. Tim Kaine, D-Va., The Hill reported.

Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., said the deal would establish a pathway to citizenship for the nearly 2 million undocumented immigrants brought to the U.S. as children and protected under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, or DACA, Bloomberg reported. Graham also said the deal will address border security.

Graham said the deal would not, however, deal with the so-called diversity visa lottery, which prioritizes immigration from countries that send fewer immigrants to the U.S., or family reunification, which immigration hardliners have dubbed "chain migration."

I think you have it backwards. You made the claim, you provide the evidence. That's how debate works.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burden_of_proof_(philosophy)

"When two parties are in a discussion and one makes a claim that the other disputes, the one who makes the claim typically has a burden of proof to justify or substantiate that claim especially when it challenges a perceived status quo."

Thank God for Senators like Grassley who are holding firm. His joint plan with the White House is the ONLY acceptable one.

I’m in VA and have no Senators. Instead, we have trained chimps in Warner and Kaine who slavishly dance to Chuckie Schumer’s tune.

President Trump has a rather idiosyncratic way of talking. To take a sentence on it’s own does not accurately convey his meaning. His remarks on an occasion need to be interpreted as a totality.

POTUS says ie I will sign what ever Congress brings me. But then before or after in the same meeting will be a statement “I will not sign anything that doesn’t cover the 4 pillars: (1) creating a path to citizenship for DREAMers, (2) securing the border, (3) eliminating the diversity visa lottery, and (4) limiting family-based immigration.

The unstated assumption is don’t bother bringing me any legislation that doesn’t cover the 4 pillars. That statement has been explicitly stated by Sarah Saunders on his behalf and POTUS has said as much to the Press. No DACA without the other 3 pillars.

whoop de doo. Why don’t y’all spend some time on helping citizens.

Isn't it remarkable how illegal immigrants have become the most beloved and protected pets of the political establishment, regardless of party? Democrat or Republican, they all seem to join hands and agree that THE most important policy priority is guaranteeing that these anchor babies get to stay here. In notable contrast, most of them won't lift a finger when it comes to policies that actually advances our national interest.

Illegal immigrants are to today's political elites what inner city blacks were to 60's radicals and the liberal establishment in their time: a special class of people whose interests are somehow more deserving than everyone else's. The difference is that at least inner city blacks were US citizens. What's the excuse this time?

I think you are largely correct. The only hope out is that Paul Rino stands in the gap for the good of the party. There is a chance or he lied.
I question the Senate voting during a national day of morning to hide what they are doing fro us.

I hope you are right but be prepared for more replays of what he said than the Florida school shooting. ( why is the Senate sneaking in a vote for amnesty while we are in a national day of morning? )

Grassley has 29 votes. That’s it. We are going to have amnesty with bull crap in return thanks to Mitch McConnell’s sell out when no sell out was necessary to restart the non essential government.

see message 110. “Hate to say it, but Trump said it in that televised meeting. When McTurtle agree to bring any POS DACA bill to the floor I said the cheap labor express whores were going to put a POS bill on Trump’s desk as a trap. Sign it, Trump’s base bails on him, veto it the GOPE loses house and Senate which effectively neuters conservatives and Trump draining the swamp for the rest of his term. NeverTrumpers andnswamp win either way”.

If I'm not mistaken, Trump has already stated he only supports Grassley's bill, and ditto for the House. The rest will pound sand, as they'll meet with a veto.

This is precisely why the DACA bill has morphed from a compromise that would allow legal residency (but not citizenship) for the 6-700K DACA recipients to one that creates a path to citizenship for 1.8 million illegals. I wouldn't be surprised if the next iteration doesn't expand it still further to be what the Gang of Eight wanted for all illegals.

“THIS WILL PASS!!”

no it won’t. doubtful it’ll even make it to the Senate or House floor for a vote ...

this is nothing more than the old “gang-of-eight” type of sellout by Kommie and GOPe Trump-hating, open-border sellouts in the Senate.
