At Seattle University, we challenge our students to engage in the difficult issues of the day with an open mind, respect differing viewpoints, discern the moral choices involved and act for the greater good.
I took this Jesuit approach to heart after being asked to keynote Seattles annual Martin Luther King Prayer Breakfast in January. My instructions were as a white person to speak to white people about the system and culture of white privilege in our country, which oppresses blacks.

Exactly.
The next stage is Kristallnacht.
After that, mass murder.
Good. Not everybody is.
Talking about ‘white privilege” shifts the conversation away from the current family breakdown and cultural issues that need to be discussed.
There are differences.
We're armed.
We have the benefit of studying history.
Many of us are veterans.
We aren't accultured to passivity. Not nearly as much as the European Jews of the 1930s were, anyway.
But the left WILL try it. Right now, they're whipping themselves into a frenzy.
Interesting isnt it, that we only heard of this white privilege
Only recently?
Yet these leftists all the sudden robotically use the term?
I guess it didnt exist in the 80s, 60s, 40s,
Wonder what it was th at caused us to suddenly be privileged?
Now that I know about it I am going to complain. Maybe even file a lawsuit if the ACLU will help me out!
See how many blacks want to go back home? I am talking about Africa mainly. If anyone, regardless of color, does not like America-LEAVE NOW.
Friendship is a two way street. Otherwise, if one side is forced to be friendly to the other side and receives all the benefits, its more like servitude. Servitude is what the Left always wants.
Back before LBJ every black worked or starved. I unloaded box cars with all black labor in the hot sun in Virginia. They worked damn hard, too.
And articles like this diminish the readers’ intelligence.
And you wonder why people are seriously considering leaving Seattle in droves. The dominance of Amazon, Costco, Microsoft, Nordstrom, and Starbucks is causing more problems than necessary.
We should appeal to the Pope to send better priests out in the field.
I have never been west of Topeka, KS, but have been through Kentucky several times. My family spent a week on Herrington Lake a couple of summers ago and really enjoyed it. A lot of history at Fort Harrod, ever bit as real as the history the good reverend is talking about.
We are witnessing the re-segregation of places that have negro populations.
“We should appeal to the Pope to send better priests out in the field.”
There are still good priests, although I wouldn’t expect this pope to look upon them with approval.
Exactly! Life is about choices. When you make bad choices, your life doesn't turn out as nice as it would have if you had made better choices.
I read an article a few years ago about the differences between whites and blacks depending on whether or not they were married. The author concluded that marriage is the big difference in quality of life. Married blacks do a lot better than unmarried blacks; and, so do their children. As far as I know, marriage is not prohibeted to Blacks. Some time ago, they decided that marriage was part of "acting white". Can we say, disconnect.
They always want what White people have; but, they never want to do the things that Whites (and Asians) do to get those things.
If they want to know what their real problem is; they can look into a mirror.
The best thing this idiot priest could do for White Privilege would be to set himself on fire in a ghastly public display. I am sure most on the left and right would applaud him.
[We are witnessing the re-segregation of places that have negro populations.]
As a civil rights activists in the 1960s all I can say is:
It’s about bloody time!
They can toss their phones, computers, and cars while they’re at it.
BS.
