The Trump administration will ask Congress for $2.2 billion to build a new FBI headquarters this year, a U.S. Department of Justice official said Monday.
If approved, the money will be added to a $3.3 billion plan to tear down the existing FBI building in D.C. and replace it with a more modern facility in the same location. The cost of relocating FBI workers to other government buildings during the construction process will be included in the overall funding.
It is not immediately clear where the FBI employees will be relocated. The money is not part of the Justice Departments fiscal 2019 request. Instead, it will be part of President Trumps infrastructure proposal, said Assistant Attorney General Lee Loftus.
Completed in 1975, the J. Edgar Hoover Building had become woefully out of date by 2012, according to the FBI, General Services Administration and Government Accountability Office. The FBI had made plans to relocate its headquarters elsewhere, including Maryland and Virginia, but the cost of such an enormous facility halted those plans. In July, the Trump administration announced it would not proceed with the project because of costs.

10 million just for trap doors
Congress will probably say “Yes” to this, and it’s just as well. But the same money for upgrades to the Border Wall, and there’s no limit to excuses not to.
If I were Donald Trump I’d cut the FBI staff down to three and put them in a Tuff-Shed.
He should build the FBI’s new headquarters on the Mexican border, in a very long thin building.
Makes. No. Sense.
Good way to get to computers.
WTF?
How is that Fortress appearing building not a keeper?
“Although you may rightly think that Brutalism got its name due to its brutal-looking exteriors, its actually derived from the French term for béton brut, or raw concrete. This is the material that Swiss-French architect and Brutalism originator Le Corbusier used in his genre-molding work during the 1950s. As a variant on the steel and glass of the Modernist era, these windowless bunkers with chunky facades make them feel like impenetrable, permanent sandcastles on the landscape.”
“And actually, Brutalism was popular in the 1960s and 70s for that very reason: The affordable, durable style could be easily implemented in places like urban plazas where architects were indeed worried about the possibility of civic unrest. (For more historical context on Brutalism, this guide is very good.)”
It seems like a very appropriate style to complement the FBI’s style of operations....
VERY GOOD IDEA!
Win/Win....
So this is how you punish the FBM for trying to take down a POTUS? UFB.
Tuff-Shed my furry fanny!! They’ll make do under canvas from Omar the Tent-maker just for their chutzpah about Russia! Russia! Russia!
Trump does nothing outside of genius.
Watch for numerous early exits by drones not wanting to put up with the relocating/rebuilding mess.
They better move fast. Gitmo's filling up.
Hahaha. Excellent suggestion.
Pssst. Don’t say anything. There will be bars on the windows and doors.
Excellent
