On Thursday, the Penal Court of Hatay Province of Turkey sentenced NASA scientist and U.S. citizen Serkan Golge to 7.5 years in prison for supposedly providing material support to the organization of Fethullah Gullen. Gullen is a U.S.-based former imam who Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan holds responsible for orchestrating the failed coup on July 15, 2016.

Golge maintained his innocence throughout his 18-month imprisonment and trial. According to his lawyers, not a single trace of evidence of his contacts with Gullen’s organization was presented to the court. The State Department and the U.S. Embassy in Ankara protested the sentence and called upon the Turkish government to end the state of emergency that resulted in arrests and dismissal of tens of thousands of government employees, including many scientists and teachers.

Turkey is now a enemy of the US and partner with Russia, thanks to Obozo.

We need to kick them out of NATO and EU and let them see how long they last........................

As I understand it, the Brits went to war against Spain in part because of Spanish attacks on British shipping, one such attack including that which included the chopping off of the ear of Robert Jenkins, a native-born British sea captain, after his ship was intercepted on the high seas.

Serkan Golge was born a Turk and came to the USA in his twenties and at some point became a US citizen. The article indicates that he had returned to Turkey (to visit relatives) when he was arrested within that country.

Although I am sympathetic to Mr. Golge and his family, and although I think Erdogan is a complete rat, I think the USA should generally not get involved in disputes between naturalized citizens and the countries they originated from, particularly when the issue involves that person being arrested within their native land.
