Liberal Groups Mobilize Against Trump’s First 9th Circuit Nominee

Liberal advocacy groups have mobilized in opposition to Ryan Bounds, President Donald Trump’s first nominee to the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.

Though criticisms of his professional record are slim thus far, progressive interest groups claim his undergraduate writings are highly inflammatory, such that his temperament might be questioned.

The Alliance for Justice (AFJ), a progressive advocacy organization, reviewed dozens of pieces Bounds wrote as a college student for a conservative weekly called the Stanford Review, that are intensely critical of student activist clubs and campus multiculturalism policies. Taken together, the Alliance says his writings betray an intolerant worldview.

With only a one-vote Senate Republican majority, the leftists are aiming a McCain; Graham, Flake, Collins, or Mukowski. In the end we get “moderates” like Kennedy.

Ryan Bounds ends up apologizing for his misguided youthful essays.

I have to agree here, this spineless cretin does not deserve judgeship.

I’m sure many Democrats oppose my “intolerant worldview”.

I often use the words “Constitution” and “Foundation of the Republic” in the same sentence.

Seems to really piss them off. LOL

From the article:
“The group has not produced any materials relating to Bounds’ post-undergraduate career.”

Where do you get his apology from? It is not in the article. And there is nothing specific to apologize for according to released information.

Liberal advocacy groups that have ignored the behavior of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals until now are not ethically qualified to question the Ryan Bounds nomination.

Whatever liberals hate I usually like, he’s looking good to me so far.

Trump nominated a 44-year-old federal prosecutor from Oregon, Ryan Bounds, to an open seat on the 9th Circuit. Like many of Trump’s judicial nominees, Bounds is a member of the Federalist Society, a conservative group that Trump once stated would be the selector of all of his judicial nominees.

From now to the 2018 results we will never get anything from the Senate that the people want. The RINO’s have screwed up. Juan McNut is a pure basket case and have been for the last dozen years. The rest of the RINO’s are just communists.

Not that they have an intolerant world view, mind you.

Of course these protestations reveal just that though don't they.

The Alliance for Justice (AFJ), a progressive advocacy organization...

LOL.

A 'progressive' group lecturing others about their supposed intolerance?

The most intolerant idiots in the entire world are 'progressives'...

“Judicial temperament” might a can of worms the liberal interest groups should not be opening. Many of the liberal judges now on the bench rule from emotion, not by consultation with the law or precedent, and we have some strange and contorted rulings out there on the books today, that could not stand any test of logic or sober reason.

Roe v. Wade, where did that come from? And statutes that recognize a union between non-traditional gender roles as “marriage” fail in any way to justify their existence. There has been, in many jurisdictions, something on the lines of a contract, called civil union, that if properly crafted, would confer all of the interpersonal rights and obligations between two people that have been hammered out over the centuries in the mostly unwritten contract that is a state-sanctioned marriage. But to call that civil union contract a “marriage” is being pretty loose with the term.

And where did anyone come up with the idea that a person, using the Castle Doctrine, inflicts great bodily harm on the assailant that tried to make an attack on his person or property, and the perpetrator of the crime turns it around and sues the defender for the consequences of the act that was criminal in the first place?

I guess he could ‘stand on principle’ and lose the vote 60-40. Not sure why that would be better. Personally, I’ll trust his college writings. Most people don’t veer left after leaving college.
