Carson is an acclaimed neurosurgeon who oversees a large government agency for which he has no particular qualifications and in this way represents the grand theme of the Trump administration. He, like the president, came to power by promising that an outsider would have the "common sense" it takes to cure what ails us.
And so, while conservative gadfly Armstrong Williams played host to this party at the Monocle restaurant, it was Carson everyone came to see.
"There's never been a time in the history of the world where a society became divided like this and did well," Carson said as a crowd including an off-duty New York Times reporter, D.C. Mayor Muriel E. Bowser, a slew of representatives from housing nonprofit organizations, and old friends from his presidential campaign circled him. "And we don't really have a reason to be fighting each other. There was a movie some years ago, a Will Smith movie called 'Independence Day' . . ."
With his soothing, story-time cadences and heavy-lidded gaze, Carson proceeded to hold forth on how the earth's near-annihilation laid bare the superficiality of all the world's strife. If only, he argued, people realized the fate of humanity hung in the balance, then Palestinians and Jews, or even the United States and Russia, could be "like best friends."

Racism rears its ugly head.
The post is a racist rag.
Just another hit piece on President Trump by his enemies in the Democrat media. Time is too precious to read another boring attack from the Washington Post.
It’s the Bezos Compost’s way to celebrate Black History Month...by attacking a black conservative.
One can imagine the author struggling to find the dark side of Carson’s role at HUD. In the end, there is none for the Washington Post to find.
“an outsider would have the “common sense” it takes to cure what ails us.”......
It was NOT an outsider that got this country so screwed up so come down off the high horse. The “swamp” is so infested with vermin and problems, NO SINGLE PERSON can cure the sickness put upon us all by liberals, it will take years to resolve. Carson has only been at it for one year, give him a chance before your crucify him.
Today the opinion editor of my local fishwrapper cited the WaPo stats as “proof” that Trump lies. No wonder nobody trusts the media anymore.
When I saw it was the Washington Post, I passed. They see everything from the opposite side of the telescope lens. They look in the wrong end.
Very long, very strange, very complex article.
In short another fake news hit on President Trump by the Compost!
Another day, another 10-20 Trump hit pieces. Yawn.
This WaPo writer, Ben Terris, appears to have taken at least three different documents (my best guess) and cut and paste this article together. I would agree...it really doesn’t read well, and the complex nature would lead me to think that it’s made up of work from different sources or lobbyists. It’s probably not a Tellis-only creation.
The title? I can only guess that someone read through this and wanted a catchy-negative lead-in and this was the best that they could recommend to Terris.
Yeah and a community organizer whose only talent was a gift of gab is qualified to be president.
If Housing and Urban Development is getting the work done under Dr. Carson and there’s no drama then he is one of the best executives Trump has appointed yet!
Time is too precious to read another boring attack from the Washington Post, or fill in the blank ___________________.
What I have noticed in dealing with various agencies at all levels is they mostly have not adopted labor saving technology. Agencies get important by growing the staff and the budget.
Perhaps he’s busy just doing his job and not being an attention whore like the Progs are when they are cabinet heads.
We must not forget too thank Zippy for all the things he has done for our country. (Sarc)
From the ComPost. No need to read. Lies and parasites who want them to be true are the MSM’s stock in trade.
