Columbus police are investigating after two Westerville police officers were shot and killed Saturday afternoon.
It happened around 11:30 a.m. in the 300 block of Crosswind Drive in Westerville.
According to a press release, a call came into the Westerville 911 center as a hang-up. Responding officers were fired upon during their arrival at the address.
One officer was killed in the shooting and another died shortly after, according to Columbus Police. The suspect is in custody.

A news conference will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday to reveal more details.
“Our hearts and prayers are with the Westerville officers, their friends, families and the Westerville Police Department at this difficult time. We are indebted to the brave men and women who don the blue and the badge day in and day out to keep our communities safe. Sometimes, those officers don’t make it home at the end of a shift. Now is one of those times and we – as a community – must rally behind the families and fellow officers," State Senator Kevin Bacon said in a press release.

To be more specific, this is an area where there are lots of offices (professionals, shopping, theater) surrounded by suburban homes, parks, and schools, etc.
I just read about this, but find no information about the killer other yhan he was wounded and hospitalized.

we do not have any details about this incident. It could have any number of root causes. Initiall reports are usually wrong and always serve the union agenda.

The perp in Colorado was not black either; he was Hispanic. This was also the 3rd officer killed in Colorado in 5 weeks. New Years even 1 killed 4 wounded. Ambush in a nice suburb of Denver perp was white. About 3 weeks ago another officer killed no others injured. That makes 3 dead and 7 injured in 5 weeks on the front range. I think Obama and BLM share a lot of the blame for open season on our police but so do attitudes like those found right here on free republic. Let’s be careful about painting perps with a racial brush when not true. It just makes us look like racists.

No the ones who are virulently anti cop and take every chance they have to run down the police. Cops are human some are good some are bad and some make mistakes. But there are those here who cannot ever admit most cops are decent people doing the best job they can in difficult situations.

Can’t we just agree that being an LEO comes with potential hazards? Arguing over where LEO jobs rank on the safety scale is unseemly. Let’s clasp hand over heart to honor those we have lost
