The publication of a House Republican memo alleging surveillance violations in the Russia probe has prompted President Trump to declare that he is totally vindicated. As many have pointed out, that is not true...
That said, the memo is not necessarily the disaster for Trump and the Republicans that it is widely considered to be. Many of Trumps political opponents remain tethered to the eventual emergence of proof that his campaign colluded with the Russian government in order to win the presidency. But the evidentiary basis so far for Russiagate is thin, to say the least. Meanwhile, the relentless pursuit of this narrative above all else has had dangerous consequences.
As high-level officials and investigators have repeatedly acknowledged, there is still no evidence so far of coordination between the Trump orbit and the Russian government over the release of stolen e-mails or any other campaign matter...
The shaky evidentiary basis for collusion extends to Russiagates other central pillars...
It has been over a year since the release, shortly before Trumps inauguration, of a US intelligence report alleging a Russian-government campaign to elect Trump through e-mail hacking and covert propaganda. Amid the ensuing uproar, some quietly noted at the time that the public version of the report does not or cannot provide evidence for its assertions (The Atlantic).
In its place is a bipartisan fearmongering campaign that recalls the height of the Cold War...

I agree, sounds totalitarian.
The Nation is writing primarily for a left-wing audience which doesn’t really take into consideration the opinions of anyone else who doesn’t agree with them.
Yeah.It seemed that way to me too. Like the everyday liberals are so eating up Russia Russia Russia that they’re starting to make things difficult for their ally, Russia, and its other communist allies.
The article by The Nation, a left-wing outfit, says that the Russia scandal is just a political narrative, there’s still no evidence for a Trump-Russia conspiracy, that there was no widespread “fake news” effect by Russian ad buying or trolls that influenced the election, that the Russia narrative is really just fear-mongering by politicians like Feinstein, Schiff, Dems and Republicans and general, and finally, that the media is pushing the false Russian narrative and all the hysteria. So yes, I thought many people would want to be aware of it. It may be that like others have said here and how it seemed possibly to me that the left would like to protect Russia now. Either way, this article by a left-wing outfit rejects the whole Russia Russia Russia storyline, and since it’s from a left-wing outlet, it’s even good to show people who believe Russia Russia Russia.
I don’t think I understand your comment. Maybe it’s just me. What did you mean by it?
Why do you think its sound totalitarian? People add that frequently in the headline. This an article from a left-wing outlet that says Russiagate is really just a narrative, there’s no evidence for it & likely there won’t be, that there probably wasn’t any Russian effect on the election, and that politicians and the media are pushing the narrative & fearmongering without a basis in evidence. That seems to me like something many people wouldn’t want to miss out on reading. From seeing some of the comments, though, it seems some didn’t read it or didn’t read it closely.
If I had to do it over, I think I would have tried to put something in the title that makes it clear that The Nation article is basically saying that the whole “Russia” scandal is smoke and mirrors. It would be nice if the titles here could be just a little bit longer, so a little bit more information could be included.
The word Must(just a step down from Shall) is problematic, especially with repetition (not necessarily by you).
I find excellent, worth your time, etc preferable.
It’s a minor point that I sat on until someone else popped up to nag. No biggie, but noted.
I concur
I read it.
I was a fun read. Well documented(linked)
A good article to post. I wouldn’t have seen it otherwise.
The nation is a very left-wing magazine.
They aren't going to criticize the left without an attack on Republicans.
Focusing on two words in a email that may have been a joke left some Republicans open to criticism and scorn by liberals.
I'm not saying the attack was fair, but someone who's trying to cover themselves from counterattacks by their own team, as the writer is, reaches for stuff like that to score an easy (if not serious) point against the other side.
The dem narrative is made more ridiculous when you go back to Obamas Ill have more flexibility after he election remark to Medvedev just before the 2012 election...
It was Hillary’s “reset” button that gave Putin 20% of our uranium.
In exchange for $140m going to the Clinton Foundation.
That’s not collusion, that’s a RICO conspiracy.
Could even be considered treason.

Did we ever even find out what he meant by that? But of course the Democrats have been in bed with Russia for decades. Ted Kennedy even asked them to interfere with the 1980 Carter vs. Reagan election to keep Reagan from being elected.
Worthwhile indeed. The Democrats basically have placed all of their eggs in this basket, far from clear that it’s to their benefit.
Obamas remark had something to do with missile defense or nukes or something. Whatever it was, it seems likely that it was going to be to the benefit of the Russians strategically, and to the benefit of Obama Abe/or Shrillary financially. As you rightly point out, the dems have been in bed with the Russians since the 1980 election, and really, for decades before that...
It was a masterful plot by Trump to convince Hitlery to use the unsecured server so that her info would leak to the Russians, so the Russians in turn could help Trump to win. /s
From seeing some of the comments, though, it seems some didnt read it or didnt read it closely.
Thats par for the course when the article is a few paragraphs. I had to take a nap midway through this one.
Eggs ZACTLY.
