I wonder if the “ghetto culture” is real like we see on the Hallmark Channel - where the black kids start out wanting to work hard, study, etc. but then peer pressure from other blacks wear them down?
Years ago I grew up in lily-white suburbia city. We had two black kids at my highly-ranked high school. They were brought in from the city. They were VERY bright kids and popular.

I’m white, but I lived in Oakland, CA for a long time in mostly black neighborhoods. I had almost NO problems.
Once Obama got elected, things changed dramatically.

crazy thing about this kids project is that if he did not use humans and made no reference to humans at all but instead talked about breeds of dogs and intelligence no one would of blinked an eye at it. it is unfortunate that racism is such a problem politically that there can not be any talk about the influence of genetics’ on some one intellect. if you take a look at smart people they tend to have smart kids. if you take a look at people of low intelligence they tend to have low intelligent kids but this is not the rule because genetic variation makes it so there always is an outlier from the norm.
I myself look at this measurement of intellect as ridicules because there are so many different types of intellect and when we test a population to give IQ we don’t test all of the spectrum of IQ and we tend to value some intellectual attributes more then others.
how many times have we heard people like Steven hawking’s a person considered to be one of the smartest persons in academia reveal how little they actually know when they decide to comment on something outside there area of study and out side there intellectual ach type on a subject or situations where they know everything about a subject but when faced with a situation where there information on the subject is needed they cant make common sense decisions. I am sure that if a question on math comes up he will give you the best answer but ask him if about human interaction he is lost.

Interesting question re: “racist”.
Is it racist to see different races as existing at all?
To note observed differences in various measures, experiences, and life outcomes, on average, based on race?
To see all races, on average, as other than identical in all respects other than exterior skin color?
To see differences, on average, in athletic capabilities? In intelligence?
To speak or type of differences on average?
To make assumptions about an individual, based on differences on average?
To speak disparagingly of specific races in general?
To speak disparagingly to an individual, based on assumptions of race?
To act disparagingly toward an individual, or advocate the right to do so, based on race?
Some, I think would argue that racism begins at each of these different points of thought and action. I’d say that different forms of racism may begin at different points on this spectrum.
I’d argue that it is the point of speaking or typing of such differences on average where, depending on the situation, racism in a practical or useful sense can be said to kick in.
Done right, there is a place for it in some discussions, including on FR. Done wrong, there’s not a place for it really anywhere. And in some situations there’s not really a place for it however “right” it is done.
The tricky part is that the more society tries to force equality of outcomes based on race, the more relevant it becomes simply to stop the infringement of individual rights through such force.
Name one country, one state, one city, one institution that is “run” by blacks that is on the cutting edge of science, economic growth or rule of law.
in ALL THE ENTIRE WORLD, find one. I just love the movies that almost always include the African American “tech” advisor or computer expert.
The movies and television almost exclusively show most judges to be black, female or both. Same for generic supervisors, compassionate character of conscience etc... Because when you look at the creators of all the tech companies, they’re all........ black or women.
All the Nobel prizes in the sciences are won by scientists in proportion to their representation in the worlds population, right? Hahahahaha.
Same with patents based on science and engineering, because we all know that the real Silicon Valley and all the top engineers at Bell Labs watch the BET network and went to Spellman, Prarie View A&M, or Grambling. .

The net effect of black ghetto culture would be to suppress achievement of kids on the high-IQ end of the bell curve. There needs to be a program to do something with the kids who are ABLE and WILLING to learn, to keep their abilities from being suppressed.

This might have been WHY they were bused in to a good school.
That is an article of faith on your part, not supported by real-life evidence.
Within the white race we have a wide distribution of qualities. Some are smart, some not-so-smart. Some have high aptitude for athletic achievement, others not. Given the distribution WITHIN a race, why is it so hard to believe that the median IQ of one race might not be the same as the median for another?
The reason why this issue keeps coming up, is the long-running assertion that the races ARE the same, and thus any disparity in achievement MUST be attributed to racism, and MUST therefore be "fixed" by Affirmative Action.
At that point, if your case is that Black people have a lower IQ than other races, you FRiend, are a Racist in the most pejorative terms of that word.
Having a different median does not mean that there aren't some very smart black people.
I have a strong feeling this sloppy presentation was not about him being a genius. When he gets to Princeton and is making ground breaking contributions to the field of science, then he can be messy. Now he is a HS student who needs to show he can at least figure out how to present a project to its best advantage.
Same here. When I was in Jr. High, half of the black population of my class was the president of the student body. There were no cultural differences between the black students and the white students to speak of. They may very well have had a different perspective, though I don't really know because I never thought to ask, as they were just other kids in school. They weren't black kids they were just kids.
It wasn't until several years after I was out of school, and had run into examples of the results of the ghetto culture that I began to have any idea of how people could be racist. I think the problem is mostly a result of culture. We call it a "ghetto" culture but that is more a name to a bigger phenomena, because many, if not most folks that are burdened with said culture do not actually live in a 'ghetto' in any meaningful sense.
The other major dynamic we see at work in our society is that there are a bunch of folk who make their living by keeping people separate and at each other's throats. They exist across the political spectrum to some degree, but are most prominent and noisy amongst democrats and the left. When you combine the two social forces, you end up with some seriously bad juju.

If we really wanted to actually know the true impact of genetics on IQ and similar methods of ranking intelligence, there would be many studies like you mentioned, as well as twin studies that could actually answer the question. The reason there is not a large body of work on this subject that we could look at is because no one really wants to know. If we actually had good, hard data on the subject, it would upset a bunch of folk's preconceptions. Also, if we actually could conclusively show that, for example, folks with green eyes were on average less intelligent than your average person, that knowledge could very well lead so some assumptions, and social policy that would not be beneficial, because it would ignore the simple and demonstrable fact that no one is 'average'.
You don’t buy a Great Dane to hunt Rabbits or use a Chow Chow to hunt birds. Yes, they are both dogs but they don’t have the same skill set. Culture has a big influence also. A junk yard dog, any breed, kept on a chain wouldn’t make a very good house pet. Why would anyone think races of people or their culture would be any different.

The student’s summary suggests future research into causes of these differences, so does not seem to conclude the differences are necessarily genetic (as opposed to cultural, nutritional, etc.).
Genetics is important in agriculture. Ask anyone who works for a seed company or anyone trying to grow a champion pumpkin for the state fair. Genetics is also important for race horses, prize bulls, show dogs and cats.
But God forbid that anyone even silently thinks that it might have an effect on IQ. The mere thought gets people very uncomfortable. It produces lots of virtue signaling and name calling.
Important brain development happens in the womb. Certain nutritional elements can mean that your baby is going to be smarter than babies who do not receive them, as well as the benefit of an overall good diet is important. A young, unwed mother may likely not be eating that well, due to lack of knowledge and immaturity, as well as income issues. Things that the uneducated and immature often do such as smoking and drugs can also hinder healthy brain development.
Therefore, even before a child is born he/she can have a huge disadvantage concerning IQ, brain development that are cultural and not necessarily due to genetic issues, even though genes/epigenes can also be impacted by cultural issues.
