David Kernell, best known for hacking into Sarah Palin's personal Yahoo account during the 2008 presidential campaign, has died from complications of multiple sclerosis. After being sentenced to a year in prison he got his life back on track, by most accounts.
Kernell, 30, was a student at the University of Tennessee 10 years ago when he successfully guessed Palin's security answers, which allowed him to change the password and get access to the Yahoo account, the Memphis Commercial Appeal reported while confirming his death last week in California through family members.

I am truly sorry.
Very sad story that someone dies so young of such a cruel disease.
There are some seriously evil postings on this thread. Shame on all of you.
Almost never is not never. Severe cases of it are indeed fatal.
“Kernell was the son of longtime state representative Mike Kernell, a Memphis Democrat.”
I seem to recall at the time that the senior Kernell was proud of what his son did.
Awww, ya beat me to it.
I call BS on the story. Yahoo has been hacked at the root level several times, Millions of emails compromised. Pretty Ef’ing bad when you start getting spam from your own email address from yourself, not even spoofed. The latest fiasco is your fake name email sends your real name with the header. Grrrr. There should have been a class action lawsuit against these bastages. Maybe I should have said bitches, the word is out they got rid of most of the men who worked there.
I guess you’re just another coincidence theorist
KARMA strikes again.
Criminal.
Particularly, suicide is substantially increased in patients with MS, and, despite its varying incidence, mainly due to cultural bias, it should be considered an MS-related cause of death.
And, in other news today, Michelle Obama announced the purchase of a new Ass Belt with extra notches.
How about that.

My heartfelt condolences to the Kernell family. I can not fathom losing a child, at any age, and can only imagine the sorrow. I am so sorry for their loss. As the Kernell family said, the 2008 incident does not define David. He went on to do good for his family and community. I would ask the public to let Davids good memory supersede anything else. My family and I pray that David’s family is enveloped in peace, knowing God has their son, awaiting a reunion someday.

Glad he got caught and prosecuted for what he did.
I don’t like to see people die at 30. MS is a tough way to go too.
I wouldn’t wish this on him.
Cue Seinfeld Thats a Shame.
And Schmidt in turn worked with Rick Davis (and Paul Manafort) on McCain '08.
Just demonstrating their bona fides.
Bingo. “A complication of MS” sounds like a discreet way of saying suicide.
I know what he did was petty and wrong and criminal, but I hope his death was peaceful and his immediate family at peace as well....
I believe Sarah Palin would do the same...
God be with him...
