Trump prefers oral report to reading daily intel briefing: report
The Hill ^ | February 9, 2018 | JACQUELINE THOMSEN

President Trump is declining to read his daily brief and is instead having officials orally brief him on certain issues, The Washington Post reported Friday.

Trump is breaking with precedent set by seven past presidents in choosing to rarely read the daily briefing, which includes what officials have deemed to be the most important U.S. intelligence from hot spots around the globe.

Reading the report is not Trump's chosen "style of learning," one source told The Post.

I was a senior officer at a fortune 500 company for many years. Although we prepared thousands of reports over the years, our CEO and CFO never read any of it and preferred to be briefed orally. If you passed out anything during the presentation they would give it back at the end of the meeting. Busy people don’t have time to read and prefer to get oral updates. At least, that was the way with all the people I ever worked for, and they were extremely smart people.

I am an old fashioned guy who would much prefer an oral report so that I can ask questions, than sit at the desk and read. An oral report with a written report for reference purposes is ideal, IMO.

I thought Obama skipped the daily intel meetings.

You are correct. His attendance was like around 40 percent if my memory serves. Unlike Bush, who almost never missed a briefing. Personally, I'd rather people tell me what's going on, while I have a hard copy to review. That's how I would do it.

Being briefed orally allows questions and answers - more interactive and potentially more informative.

Silly girl! What difference would it make if he were dyslexic?
General George Patton, our greatest general, was dyslexic. He too did a lot of things the “experts” said were impossible. Ever hear of Bastogne? The Bulge? Torch? etc. etc. etc.
One of the reasons I am sure Trump favors oral reports is the fact that oral reports save TIME, of which a working president does not have enough.

I was joking. I have no reason to believe Trump is dyslexic.
