I can’t stop laughing...that pic is just too funny! It boggles the mind to think someone would even think of eating a laundry soap pod. I know my mother’s generation would threaten to wash your mouth out with soap...it was just a threat, everyone knew the bathroom disaster; if that happened. Hard to find people with common sense anymore.

It's probably that, and social media where people do stupid and dangerous things for attention/15 minutes of fame. There was a dumb one a couple years ago called the "Cinnamon Challenge" where people videoed themselves eating a large spoonful of ground cinnamon and then choking and gasping. At least cinnamon is edible, but doctors including pulmonologists were warning people that inhaling cinnamon like that could damage your lungs. Despite that, and some of these people ending up in the hospital, they kept doing it. Doh.

IIRC, it is not plastic, but a kind of gelatin. It will dissolve completely in hot water; warm or cold, not so much.
