There is an old Arab proverb, "If the camel gets his nose in the tent, his body will soon follow." A metaphor for a small, insignificant action opening the door to something much larger and more nefarious.
Overlooked in this past weekend’s brouhaha over the Nunes memo is the role of Carter Page. A Russian spy or the FBI camel’s nose to get under the Trump tent? Given that to date Page has not been charged with a single crime, unlike Paul Manafort and Michael Flynn, is he really a spy or just a dodgy business consultant who did business with Russia?
And who served conveniently as the camel’s nose to get under the Trump tent, so the Obama justice and intelligence departments could first try to influence the election, then having failed, to overturn the election results.
Byron York, in the Washington Examiner, reviews the history of Carter Page. An energy consultant doing business in Russia that Russia tried to recruit as a spy. Big deal. I suspect most Americans doing business with or within Russia have at one time been approached by the Russian intelligence services to see if they have any appetite for helping Mother Russia.
Page was supposedly viewed by the Russians as “an idiot”, according to Byron York’s piece. So what. Trump is called an idiot on CNN and MSNBC on a daily basis. Is Page an idiot?
His bio suggests otherwise. A distinguished graduate of the US Naval Academy, in the top 10 percent of his class. Unlike Senator John McCain who graduated 894th in a class of 899 at Annapolis.

I suspect most American CIA, FBI, Congresspersons, Senators, government staffers and officials, clerks, ex-Presidents, military officers, diplomats, scientists, academics, and cleaners having any contact with or within Russia, and many who don’t, have been approached in some way by the Russian intelligence services or entities that can be claimed to be under their sway. Probable cause for investigation: existence. Stalin would be proud.

Seems to be a message that they will still be investigating Trump in 2021.

I heard it from a leftist caller on WMAL’s Chris Plante Show. Everyone seems to have the same reaction. Five years and nothing to show for it? I think the Leftist caller was trying to take the spotlight off the FISA warrant in 2016.
Do you have a source for this? The Leftist caller did not provide any.
I’m glad attention is being focused on how exactly did Carter Page get into the Trump campaign if only for a brief period. Whether Page was a willing or unwilling dupe is doesn’t really matter at this point. But if he was either, that’s an explosive revelation.
I’m glad some of the people asking questions have been reading FR and getting ideas on where to look for malfeasance.
Could have been Carter Page was doing a favor for a GOP friend. Either way the FBI used him to get a shot at Trump.
I think we’re going to see the wisdom in the old saw: When you try and kill the King, make sure you kill the King. I’m hoping a joint military unit starts hauling these insurrectionists to Gitmo.

Unfortunately, that alternative universe viewpoint is not reality.
It is just plain old politics.
Working with defense company we were routinely asked to report any contact with foreign persons if they showed an unusual interest in what we did.
This was emphasized when we announced foreign travel.
This use of incidental contacts to expand the surveillance has not In My View, been exposed enough.
This was dramatically depicted on The Good Wife, and eventually led to the agents being disciplined but never brought to trial.
This has to be exposed by President Trump, Hannity, Rush, and the rest of American patriots everywhere!
Why Nothing on Page?
Carter Page was fully co-operating with the FBI.
Everyone knows it, even the Russians.
If Page was the camel’s nose, who was the toes?
