Signals were “suspended” due to CSX maintenance, train authority governed by paper “track warrant,” switch to siding was left open by freight crew, train hit head on in siding at about 40 mph, Amtrak conductor and engineer died in crushed cab, one passenger car split into a V-shape.

Thanks for the update.
Early pics appeared(to me!) to show multiple tracks with opposing engines alongside one another. now see pic of jackknifed car and no apparent track to left.
Yard area accounts for slow speed - plus I guess maint warrant area.
Thanks for enlightening me.
