Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee are calling for an immediate meeting with officials from the FBI and Department of Justice over the claims made in the memo drafted by Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.).
The letter, spearheaded by ranking member Rep. Jerrod Nadler (D-N.Y.), is directed to committee chairman Rep. Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.). In it, Nadler asks Goodlatte to arrange a meeting with FBI Director Christopher Wray and other representatives from the Justice Department to examine the "talking points" that he says Republicans are using to "discredit the work of the FBI and Special Counsel Robert Mueller."
"It is imperative that we hear directly from these officials about the security and law enforcement implications of making this information public," Nadler wrote.
"It is also important that we hear about any inaccuracies or key omissions from the Nunes document," he added.
President Trump plans to release a memo drafted by Nunes purporting to detail surveillance abuses by the federal government to be made public despite warnings from the FBI that the document contains inaccurate statements and omissions of fact.
“The president is OK with it,” a White House official told reporters traveling with Trump aboard Air Force One. “I doubt there will be any redactions. It’s in Congress’s hands after that.”
“As expressed during our initial review, we have grave concerns about material omissions of fact that fundamentally impact the memo’s accuracy," the bureau said in a statement.
Nunes has dismissed the FBI's criticism and accused the bureau of running a counterintelligence operation based off of unverified information during the 2016 election.
"It’s clear that top officials used unverified information in a court document to fuel a counterintelligence investigation during an American political campaign. Once the truth gets out, we can begin taking steps to ensure our intelligence agencies and courts are never misused like this again,” Nunes said.

I’ve considered that along the way.......and that it could well be a nothing burger. I think their fear is they are so dependent on the “Trump/Russia” collusion, in order to ride into the elections on ...that the memo is getting in the way of that. This is why I’m seeing an ‘onslaught’ of Russia blaming posts... for everything out on twitter and other social sites. They’re hammering it out there now....everybody in our investigations is now a Russian agent!

Laz.......if this memo is the ‘tip’, after all it’s just a 4 page memo of much much larger classified documentation....then it’s intention is ‘to point’ in a certain direction the dems don’t want it to go ...for it could possibly lead to a ‘full unveiling’ of the entire documentation ....even if just to a few who might get access to view....it would reveal names, places, etc. that would criminally implicate hundreds.

True that mccarthy had a list of names, he couldn’t real time prove— but our modern internet provides that crosscheck in near real time... this time. McCarthy was right, and am now seeing this 7th floor crew to be compromised entirely by (through counterintel fbi junior and/or senior) russian apparat aided and abetted by valjar as point of contact, and obamaumao as “unwitting” witting front man. Nadler wants only the Republican memo to be in the public square, but with two committees of Democrats attacking it. Goodlatte should keep the debate within intelligence oversight for now.
