Terrorism was being eyed as a possible motive after a man in a black Honda hit a pedestrian Monday morning in Philadelphia, seriously injuring one person before being shot in the head by an off-duty cop, officials said.

The 31-year-old driver, who wasn’t immediately identified, was prounced dead at 10:15 a.m. at a hospital, police said. The driver was initially in “extremely critical condition” after the incident.

Philadelphia Police Commissioner Richard Ross Jr. said at a news conference Monday evening that while initial reports said the driver attempted to hit multiple people with his car, police have been "unable to confirm that he was trying to strike several people."

Ross said he doesn't believe the driver was armed.

“Anytime someone is trying to run people over we got to look at that angle and see what the investigation leads us,” a police spokesman earlier said. Authorities said they were reviewing videos of the incident and looking for more witnesses for additional information.

It says the perp did a U-turn and tried to hit more people. Finally stopped by another driver who blocked him.

You don't know WTF you are talking about. Why don't you learn a little bit about the case before mouthing off with your anti-police nonsense?

There is certainly reason to question whether it was political "terrorism" (may have been just one crazy dangerous MF out of control), but the driver first hit a pedestrian, then doubled back, then got out of the car and chased an innocent witness, then physically attacked an off-duty police officer who identified himself....... your ignorant comment adds absolutely nothing to the discussion.

The case must be thoroughly investigated, but there is no initial evidence to support your flippant claim that an officer "immediately" shot an erratic driver. In fact, the initial reports go strongly against your assumptions.

As the suspect began to walk back to the Honda, the off-duty officer, who had witnessed most of what happened, exited his own vehicle and confronted the suspect. Witnesses said the officer identified himself as police and ordered the suspect to the ground, Ross said. The suspect “charged the detective immediately upon the detective approaching him. There is a violent struggle that you can see where they’re spinning each other around and around,” Ross said. The suspect allegedly struck the officer several times.
