Energy giant Exxon Mobil announced plans Monday to spend $50 billion to expand its domestic business operations, citing the recently passed tax cut legislation.
"At ExxonMobil, we plan to invest more than $50 billion over the next five years to expand our business in the United States. These investments are underpinned by the unique strengths of our company and enhanced by the historic tax reform recently signed into law," Chief Executive Office Darren Woods said in a posting Monday on the company's website.
"For instance, we will be investing billions of dollars to increase oil production in the Permian Basin in West Texas and New Mexico, expand existing operations, improve infrastructure and build new manufacturing sites. This will create thousands of jobs, strengthen the U.S. economy and enhance energy security," Woods added. "Were actively evaluating the impact of the lower tax rate on the economics of several other projects currently in the planning stages to further expand our facilities along the Gulf Coast."
Exxon Mobil follows a slew of companies, including major employers such as Walmart, Bank of America, AT&T, American Airlines, and Comcast, that have said the tax reform legislation has made it possible for them to expand operations and reward employees. Unlike those companies, Exxon Mobil did not commit to raising employee wages or paying bonuses.
That gonna leave a mark!
Don’t believe this nonsense. Its all about oppression of womyn, children, people of color and LGBTQs!
Crumbs.
Fair enough. If you feel so strongly about this...if you hate my guts as badly as you say you do...if you really loved our country better under Obama and think I'm the worst president ever, let me ask each of you who feel this way to do this ONE thing in protest - give back the tax cut you received.
Because if you keep the tax cut and still participate in protest marches, it means you're a hypocrite. The extra money you send to us will be put to good use, trust me. We'll use it for more tanks and planes the last administration refused to give our military. We'll use it to improve the defense preparation for Hawaii - and, ooh they need it. We'll use it for a bigger, better wall on our Southern border.
So if you really hate my guts, give back the money. Thank you."
ROFL. Excellent.
And you won’t hear a word of this on the evening news from those pieces of garbage that call themselves the mainstream media.
Oh gosh I am for sure showing that to my accountant, hahaha!
The voters must be itching to go back to the BArak years.
Nancy Pelosi on the good news: “$50 billion is crumbs”....
