Senate Fails to Pass 20-Week Abortion Ban
NRO ^ | 1/29/18 | Alexandra Desanctis

The Senate failed this evening to pass the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, which would’ve banned abortions after 20 weeks, after Democrats filibustered the bill. In a 51–46 vote, the bill failed to make it out of debate and to a final floor vote.

Abortion is also the only “choice” when Dems say they are “pro-choice”. Not pro-choice when it comes to schools, taxes, labor unions, hiring decisions, or religious expression.

And the “right to privacy” is found in the “penumbra of the Constitution” only for this issue that involves at least 3 people and an exchange of money.

Nearly full employment is worrying the hiring class NOW. Who knows what the situation will be 20 years from now when babies born today might be entering the work force? Why does our President import so many workers for his Florida estate? Why aren’t more working skills taught in high school? Not everyone is going to be a college graduate.

Why do we have to conform to the minority? We need to have 50% the threshold.

Jesus has a millstone for each of these abortionists.

The dilemmas this country faces are primarily spiritual and cultural. Politics is a suckers game

Exactly. The churches are beings pounded and hounded and the culture is being destroyed by rats in every nook and cranny. Abortion is now big business and Planned Parenthood has the ear to judges and more. Politics is a fools game but it runs this country. I vote yet cringe every time I vote hoping and praying things change but the proverbial die is cast.

Thanks for the reply.

I’m very hopeful. Once you come to the conclusion that politics is a scam, a suckers game, the question for me at least becomes: so what now? I guess I could decide that there is nothing to be done, that it’s all for nought and crawl away. But I don’t because I see it as an incredible opportunity.

So we can’t change politics in a meaningful way. Oh well. We can work on the culture and on our faith and accomplish much more there instead. And we get to see real, tangible benefits in the short term. It’s exhilarating.

Let me give you an example that ties to this article. We’re never going to see much of anything out of the politicians when it comes to infanticide. They’ll dither and delay and basically do nothing. But instead of wasting resources on this we could say have say a pancake breakfast to fund an ultrasound machine to persuade pregnant women that there actually is a human being inside them. THAT works and the lives saved are tangible and real.

So the choice is time and treasure flushed down a rathole or live babies. Gosh. I’ll take live babies for the win!

That sort of logic can be expanded far and wide. There are an almost infinite number of things we can do to shift the culture our way.

Yup. It is. And there isn’t much we can do about it in the political realm.

But there is a whole lot we can do in the cultural and spiritual realm.

Did the pro-life side get 51 votes then? But needed 60?

There are not enough conservative purists to support a cable news channel,

Why do you say that?

Why?

Because there are not enough conservative purists to support the advertising necessary for the channel. Although there many here who pat themselves on the back being critical of fox news, they can never be satisfied. And, they forget or don’t know the facts

Fox News is the conservative news channel. It was founded by the brilliant Roger Ailes, a great conservative, who wanted a conservative rebuttal to all the rest. He developed the concept of Fair and Balanced. Not only was it well received, but it exploded to become greatest of all the cable news channels

When Fox started, most here thought they had died and gone to heaven....... conservative news. The numbers of conservative purist malcontents is so small it lacks the numbers to support a cable channel worth a damn.

There will never be a time politicians are not lying scoundrels. PP is now a huge business. The killing won’t end. The god Mollech is hungry. I’ve been a part of the pro life movement since the 1970’s and pray and pray but I fear it’s only the Lord’s second coming now that will end this, but I won’t stop praying.

Ever since project veritas exposed those evil abortionists joking about selling baby parts, I have had visions of these monsters possibly eating the remains. I know it’s disgusting but there is nothing lower that these people are capable of.

We’d still be a long way from 60 even if Susie and Lisa were replaced by conservatives.

Gotta ditch the fillibuster to pass this.

A good book I’d recommend: the Benedict Option. He presents a strategy for Christians living in post Christian nations. I don’t agree with the author 100%, but he presents a good strategy. One very interesting point that he made was that cultures are very changeable and indeed can be changed in as little as a generation. Our politics have proven remarkably resistant to change. The culture couldn’t be any more difficult than politics.

I think prayer is far more valuable than politics. By orders of magnitude. And I thank you for doing so.

According to the Bible, none of us know when the Lord will come again. I assume it won’t happen in my life, so I might as well do what I can with the culture in the meantime.

I'll give the book a shot in about a month. As for the Lord returning. I don't know when either. But the speed of moral decay through out the world with the speed of man's increasing arrogance in that they can evolve through their own knowledge( Psalm Two always comes to the forefront) has me more and more curious about eschatology and the dispensation especially since Israel is now a nation again.

We are racing head long in to some serious delusions but again I hesitate to even consider His timing. It's bad now but not thoroughly unbearable. I have to continue to pray "In you time lord," and try to refrain from "How long How long do you wait for your vengeance and the vengeance of your people?"/p>

His justice will not be pretty and we are no commie China or North Korea yet, we are not getting our heads chopped in the ME but something has to give. The days of Noah must have been really bad.
