FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe is reportedly stepping down.
NBC News Pete Williams broke the news on-air today that McCabe moved up his timetable for stepping down and is out effective today.
As Williams explained, this is happening sooner than anticipated.
McCabe has come under scrutiny from Republicans in recent weeks, including from President Trump himself:
You can watch Williams report above, via MSNBC.

McCabe is apparently convinced that the memo will be released soon and that his position would be untenable.

Nah, he is on Terminal Leave. So, really, just an extended vacation for him.
Mr. Yooper — Are you from the UP (ya, hey)?

If a federal employee is on pension and then gets indicted, does his family get to keep collecting the pension?

#3:
"If McCabe is on leave til March so he can get his pension and bennies … " I believe you've nailed it. He was slated to retire in March, so he probably has enough accrued sick leave and vacation time to step down now without losing his retirement benefits. It's actually a normal thing to do, and there's not much to read into it.
