President Trump said this weekend that he offered a “wonderful deal” to protect illegal immigrant Dreamers and that resistance among Democrats suggests the party would rather have a political issue than a solution.
Democrats have largely rejected the outlines of Mr. Trump’s proposal, saying that while the legalization of 1.8 million Dreamers was an important step, they would not agree to his plans for a border wall or to limiting the long chain of family migration.
The president is poised to deliver his plan to Capitol Hill this week and make his case directly to the public in his State of the Union address.
Mr. Trump took to Twitter late Saturday to say part of the reason he offered to protect 1.8 million Dreamers — nearly three times the number protected from deportation under the Obama-era Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals amnesty — was to try to make Democrats feel the heat.
“I have offered DACA a wonderful deal, including a doubling in the number of recipients & a twelve year pathway to citizenship, for two reasons: (1) Because the Republicans want to fix a long time terrible problem. (2) To show that Democrats do not want to solve DACA, only use it!” Mr. Trump said.
“Democrats are not interested in Border Safety & Security or in the funding and rebuilding of our Military. They are only interested in Obstruction!” he added.
His plan would couple the amnesty for Dreamers with a $25 billion request for wall funding, limiting family sponsorship of migration to spouses and minor children, eliminating the Diversity Visa Lottery that gives away immigration passes based on chance, and a number of policy changes to stop abuse of the asylum system and speed deportations of illegal immigrants.

The Dems want nothing for anybody except themselves. Trump is really showing yet hem up on this one. And while I think he’s making an irresistible offer, they’re not interested in any offer he makes.
But I bet the (good) DACA folks that Trump wants to approve are not going to be happy with the Dems on this one. Since you have San Fran Nan, the wealthiest woman in the Senate, saying $1000 is “nothing” to anybody and the wealthy idiot Dem rapper JayZ saying that it doesn’t matter that black employment has surged under Trump because “money isn’t the important thing,” you can see how out of touch they are.
The President is playing the Democrats for the Bozoesque fools they are.

You nailed it on the Dems being out of touch and I believe President Trump has them backed into a corner.
10-12 year path folks. Even if the Dems go along and pass the bill, how many "dreamers" are going to jump through all those hoops to become citizens?
Meanwhile, the wall gets built, welfare for illegals is ended (at the federal level) and those not meeting the above requirements go out and CAN'T GET BACK IN!

I can understand Democrats being confused by what “good moral character” means.
You're right. They're not dreaming of citizenship, they're dreaming of freebies and ripping the rest of us off. Because of Dem blockages, it's going to take longer than 10-12 years to get anything substantial built with the border wall. I say, no border wall, no DACA - unless the wall gets finished first, then it will be considered, with a 10-12 year wait. Meanwhile, they can wait outside our borders.

The democraps have tried to paint Trump as an unhealthy and over-weight moron that is clueless on the economy and unrespected as a global leader that conspired with the Russians to win the Presidency. They have placed all their chips on this meme and gloated about the expected results of this November’s elections. They have gleefully predicted winning the Senate and the House by wide margins. The MSM whores have echoed this wonderful political rapture forthcoming.
Only one major glitch for the rats.......every single talking point they have posited has been shot out of the sky. From a score of 30 out of 30 on his ability to apply his brain to problem solving to heading the way to an economic explosion that is underway that will employ all those that wish to work. The “winning” that is underway is palpable and coming in all forms faster than even The Donald could have wished.

I'm giving DJT a lot of latitude with this play - I think he will get most of what he wants with little to surrender. It is fun to watch.
