Should we choose HD over Lowes? Lo’s-sounds Chinese. Self home improvement types are our people.

In our area, my preference is Lowes. Their people are a little more knowledgeable and I like the layout of the store better.

I do use Home Depot as a second choice/back-up.

We usually shop at Lowe's, since it looks like it is oriented more towards the do-it-yourselfer, while Home Depot seems targeted more for the professional handymen and builders. Lowe's also has an automatic 10% discount for military personnel; I don't know if Home Depot offers a similar discount.

HD gives vets a 10% discount everyday.

My wife carries a copy of my DD214 if I’m not with her at HD, Under Armor, Brooks Brothers and Pier One.

Lowe’s was founded in 1921, North Wilkesboro, NC by Lucian Smith Lowe. Still headquartered in NC, Mooresville now though. Decent organization, very well known for kind treatment of job applicants, they respond sometimes within hours. Good stores, their floor people tend to be more knowledgable of things homeowners would want to know, they’re geared that way. Nothing wrong with Home Depot either really, but they seem to cater more to contractors in my exposure.
