Trump on His Latest DACA Offer (tweets)
Twitter ^ | January 27, 2018 | President Donald J. Trump

Posted on 01/27/2018 9:26:41 PM PST by be-baw

From @realDonaldTrump Twitter account:

"I have offered DACA a wonderful deal, including a doubling in the number of recipients & a twelve year pathway to citizenship, for two reasons: (1) Because the Republicans want to fix a long time terrible problem. (2) To show that Democrats do not want to solve DACA, only use it!

"Democrats are not interested in Border Safety & Security or in the funding and rebuilding of our Military. They are only interested in Obstruction!"

Do it by percentage....first ten percent of wall completed...do ten percent of Daca....until you hit a hundred percent....

People on this site put way too much emphasis on a wall. Sure, it will help, but it’s much more important to have everify, end of chain migration, end visa lottery, increased immigration judges, etc. We already have a border that’s illegal to crosss....a wall will make it harder to cross, but walls can be defended, torn down, used as political symbols of oppression. I’m not saying it’s not a priority....I’m just saying it should be lower on most people’s list.

Hillary wasn't over confident. She went by Obama's numbers against a super weak challenger.

Unfortunately, all his numbers were directed at blacks, hispanics, gays, abortionists, women.....

Hillary didn't even consider the REAL working class....Those are the folks who quietly went to the polls.

Sigh - he won’t sweeten the pot because the Dems will not deal. Even if he were to get what he wants and stick with this offer, we would be on a better track than even the most optimistic of us could have ever wished for before he came along - yet the concern trolls will be so focused on staying hydrated for impressive spittle-fests that they will never be satisfied even as he does what we had begun to think was impossible...

Chain migration, visa lottery can be reversed unless you attach a time clause.

Once the wall exists....it's not going to be reversed. If it's not doen now, it will never be done.

People forget....We have a border with Canada...we don't have the Mexican problems...

Why?? Because we have a monstrous moat between us....called Lake Ontario

Don’t agree with your premise. A wall can be defunded as part of a budget fight.....remember it only takes 51 votes to pass a budget in the senate. Ending E-verify, chain migration laws, etc etc would take 60 votes and be much more politically contentious....that’s why they are the more important pieces. Also, if you think border security is going to happen without throwing the Dems a bone in terms of DACA etc, you’re not living in the real world. GOP has got to give something. The game in the end is to get everything we want in terms of order security.

“...this is just a ploy?...”

It is bait from DJT to catch Schumer and unmask the ‘rats position, which is no wall no matter what, so no deal from them ever. It is working. The President will never cave on the wall.

I too am trying to figure this expansion to 1.8 million.

Some of the comments has been to throw things out there to see what the Dems and GOPe would counteroffer. The media and the illegal immigration corwd has been playing the 800,000 number, when they know the number is much larger.

We all know there are millions of illegal immigrants outside of DACA. Depending on which (lies) one reads, it is 8 , 12, 15,...30 million. If “amnesty” is limited to only 1.8 million, chain migration and immigration lottery ended, then the other 6, 10, 13, 28 million illegals will not become Dem voters, and may even be deported. That might be worth it.

I would like to see (1) all eligible DACA persons must renounce their country of origin citizenship - no dual citizenship allowed; (2) applying for a foreign passport after US status - citizenship is granted, is grounds for deportation; (3) voting rights shall accrue 12 years after the wall is completed; (4) No DACA for persons who entered this country after 2012 (5) No more anchor babies.

Unfortunately, the DACA people whom I have seen lately advocating for DACA on television do not appear to have the love for America that one would expect of such persons given a chance to live in the greatest country in the world - it is an extreme entitlement mentality to put it kindly. I am becoming more unsympathetic to their cause as I observe and learn more on this issue.

> Who in their right mind would ever offer the doubling of illegals to gain citizenship?

I hated Obama’s illegal DACA. But congress wouldn’t fix things so he took it on himself to do something. I would hate Trump just as much for acting unconstitutionally even in something I approve (i.e. “finding” money to build the wall like Obama did to prop up Obamacare). That means he has to work with congress.

I’d love to see a better idea. But to me, this looks like the deal maker I voted for. If we get the deal, we have 2 million new citizens in 12 years AND a secure border. If not, we probably get 10 million new illegals over the next 12 years - unless you have a better idea for building the wall and fixing border/visa security without congress.

Even if McConnell got rid of the filibuster, we have Graham and a few others to deal with. If you have a better idea, it needs to take those problems into account.

If 2 million new voters in 12 years is the issue, think about what happens if the Ds get control with 20 million illegals they can give citizenship to. I’d rather have Trump and republicans make 2 million new voters very happy AND secure the border than wait for Ds to get the credit.

And, why can’t Rs win immigrant votes? (if that’s the concern) They have 12 years to make the conservative case for these dreamers not to vote D. I’ll bet on that happening if Trump can stay around 1/2 that time making the case (since other Rs don’t seem able). And another advantage of this deal is that the Ds lose their biggest argument for immigrant votes.

In theory, this violates many principles I demand (rule of law, sovereign borders, etc). In reality, DC is a swamp, voters who elected Ds to congress and liberal states deserve representation, and Trump is not a dictator.

You want to get rid of them?

And press charges against any employer who did not use I-9 to verify their employees' right to work in this state. Aiding and abetting identity theft needs to be recognized as a crime against our citizens. Along with identity theft itself.

Perfect. I wonder what would happen if they put out a PSA that states that the SS Administration is cross referencing all SSNs, that have been used simultaneously, in different states, etc. And that investigators will be visiting the business owners to see who they’re paying, etc. Wonder how many illegals will lose their jobs, that day.

Found a link to this, pretty good explanation:

https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/956802599159844864.html

1 -Trump Immigration Plan Thoughts 1 - Why are Democrats not jumping to accept Trump’s immigration proposal? Surely 1.8 million illegals is enough for them, right? Well, not so fast.

2 - Trump and the White House have been consistent about this. No criminals, aka no people with public charges will be eligible.

What does this mean? It means 1.8 million is the maximum number, a number that Dems will not even see 50% of

3 - Take that initial 650,000, and pair it down based on the information we have from DACA people. It’s roughly half, so 300-350k. Then multiply that by 2.5 based on the 800k number used for 1.8 million.

You ARE STARTING WITH 750k-900k.

4 - These people, 750-900k have to go through a 10-12 year process of citizenship. They have to pay for it, earn it, learn English, our Government, culture, etc. Oh, and they can’t commit any crimes? So if they can’t do it? They leave.

In the end, you have 375-450k left

5 - On top of only having 375k-450k after 10 years (Not 1.8 million), you have a Big, Beautiful Wall, no Chain Migration problem adding 400k extra legal immigrants per year and no more Visa Lottery program

6 - So again I ask, why are not Democrats not jumping on this?

Because they know it’s bad for them.

But the good news is they won’t accept it until the offer is off the table, and when the deal only gets better for our side

7 - That Nunes memo? And the information it relates to?

When that drops it will be too late for the Democrats to accept Trump’s current Immigration proposal.

Because the Democrat party will be dead by then.
