Liberal billionaire George Soros grabbed headlines at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland on Thursday by attacking internet giants Google and Facebook. Conveniently ignoring his own investment in these companies, Soros branded them a menace to society.
They deliberately engineer addiction to the services they provide, Soros said. This can be very harmful, particularly for adolescents. There is a similarity between internet platforms and gambling companies. Casinos have developed techniques to hook gamblers to the point where they gamble away all their money, even money they dont have. Something very harmful and maybe irreversible is happening to human attention in the digital age. Not just distraction or addiction: social media companies are inducing people to give up their autonomy.
Well, Soros would know about gambling: after all, he made his billions, by gambling in the casino of the financial markets. It worked out great for him, turning him into a fabulously wealthy plutocrat afforded the platform to pontificate pompously to his fellow elitists at Davos, and to indulge his personal political predilections by throwing his money at liberal causes.
But lets remember: its money he made off the backs of the poor and the working class. Soros gambling happens to have wrecked the lives of millions of working people, not least in the United Kingdom, where his manipulation of the currency markets in the early 1990s caused a deep recession and untold misery for millions.
Of course, whatever the hypocrisy, many will agree with Soros characterization of the threat from Big Tech. But it was when he turned his attention to the Trump administration that he really went off the rails.

Actually, I agree with Soros for once in my life. Even a blind hog finds and acorn occasionally.
For once, I agree with Georgie.
Wouldn't change a damn thing, his children are as bad, or worse than he is.
There’s no evidence they’re as smart financially as him.
It’s quite likely they’ll implore his empire.
Maybe ol Georgie’s getting senile. I’m surprised he didn’t accuse Twitter of stealing his World’s Fair spoon or yell at Zuckerberg to get off his lawn.
Not as smart as him, as evil or worse, and there is plenty of money in his empire to do a considerable amount of evil.
It’s hard to disagree with his statements.
Tue, but wastrels can drain the coffers with surprising quickness!
Russia has no warrant out for Soros, thats a myth. The Russians have, however, banned two of his organizations.
He does not want to cross paths with Viktor Orban in his home country, however.
Soo’s was convicted of breaking French securities. I do not know what the penalties were but I never read anything about Soros doing anything other then ignoring them.
His son, Alexander is quite the playboy and entirely corrupt.
breaking French securities law!
Soros made a billion shorting the British pound in 1992 which broke the Bank of England.
Did he do it by breaking any UK securities laws?
Agreed, and that is pretty much my position for many of the globalists and our own statists like: Gingsberg, Kennedy, McCain, Schummer, Pelosi, Brown, Clintons, et. al.
We all die. Why can't they die soonest and leave us to our own liberties, opportunities, and free will to succeed? Yes, I wish early death on many socialist Utopians. Think what you will for me wishing death. It's just a wish.
Not so much wrong with that idea, IMHO.
The imprecatory Psalms are filled with pleas for the end of the enemies the Psalmist faced.
A pretty good precedent, if you ask me.
Implode ?
It sure won’t be me looking down on you. It’s just a wish!
