Update: Everything appears to be back to normal.
thank you for posting this...
my computer shut down twice today after telling me there was not enough memory and my malwarebytes program was showing a red flag- I had no clue what was happening.....i’m wondering if i should/can shut malwarebytes down for a while..
The link above to the Malwarebytes forum reports that the fix has been issued and should auto-update, though it may take 2 or 3 reboots. If(after the reboot/update)the “web protection is off” flag is no longer showing...you should be good to go.
I’ve had Kaspersky and MWB both for about five years and Kaspersky is up for renewal in about three weeks. I might give MWB alone a try. Actually, I got MWB Premium for life, for only $18.00 several years. That was when they first started charging for some packages after they’d had that free one for several years.
Explains a lot. My computer started locking up, screen going black, and Malwarebytes web protection refusing to turn on. I thought I was under attack.
They’ve supposedly been working on a problem for me for almost a year now. Don’t hold your breath.
I then forced it to update itself and following that everything cleared up.That's been in the last half hour.
Use Malwarebytes Premium 3.3.1 and experienced several crashes this morning, including failure of Malwarebytes to start. Seems to be fine now.
Memory leaks can be a bitch to find. Lots of fun when it’s a mission critical system! Once did a 106 hour week over one of those.
Yes. I got lucky with this one. I was just about to do a full system restore from an image backup when I happened to see the notice about MalWareBytes.
I use XYplorer https://www.xyplorer.com which is a better folder program then Windows explorer. Of late though it would take maybe 10 seconds for a folder to open the first time. I had added it as an exception to malwarebytes and Webroot anti-virus but it still there would be a pause. I disabled both to see if the folder open right away and still a pause.
I just did an update to the latest XYplorer and enabled both malwarebytes and Webroot and now the folder snaps open.
Maybe the update of malwarebytes fixed it or XYplerer or the combo. All I know it is working for now.
Sometimes we’re smart. And sometimes we just get lucky. But as long as It’s working...
sorry to be off subject but has anyone else been bombarded by spam lately? (this week) I’m getting 20 to 50 a day that are obvious because the size is either 315KB or 279KB. irritating as i have an old account with a memory limit and have to delete trash daily now .....
I haven’t noticed any increase my my email spam lately. But I sympathize. This is almost as annoying as spam telephone calls.
yea , and try to get rid of those , 1 0r 2 a day isnt as bad as it was during the primary (not so bad during election) but i can;t get thru to the old call line. not sure it still exists ..
I work at a Help Desk - internal support and sometimes I get asked how I figure things out.
I say it is like a mouse looking for the cheese in a maze.
This explains what happened to me this morning. I was about to post a comment on Lisa Page needing to get protection when everything seized. I wondered if the NSA had disabled my machine! Everything slowed to a crawl. I ended up disconnecting my machine and blowing the dust out of it before restarting and updating my virus protections. It was good. I needed to blow the dust out anyway.
Thank you all for this thread.
I took a break from shopping for a new laptop today and checked in to FR on my phone.
“AHAH!” I exclaimed. My laptop wasn’t beyond hope!
All the symptoms I was experiencing this morning were being discussed here.
Finally back in the game!
Thank you all, again!
Freepers are the best!
I do to and I had lock-up problems today.
Working okay now.
