Why We're Underestimating the American Collapse
Eudaimonia ^ | 1/25/2018 | Umair Haque

Posted on 01/26/2018 12:08:39 PM PST by RinaseaofDs

"Seen accurately. American collapse is a catastrophe of human possibility without modern parallel . And because the mess that America has made of itself, then, is so especially unique, so singular, so perversely special — the treatment will have to be novel, too.

The uniqueness of these social pathologies tell us that American collapse is not like a reversion to any mean, or the downswing of a trend. It is something outside the norm. Something beyond the data. Past the statistics. It is like the meteor that hit the dinosaurs: an outlier beyond outliers, an event at the extreme of the extremes. That is why our narratives, frames, and theories cannot really capture it — much less explain it. We need a whole new language — and a new way of seeing — to even begin to make sense of it."

<>"Extreme capitalism has blown apart American society so totally that people cannot even care for one another"<>

No, it was creeping socialism. It began under Wilson and has been growing exponentially since.

Perhaps, with Trump, we can slow the state and give this poor guy a little faith.

Had you reached the end, his suggestion was a new way to talk about it, actually.

He has observations, and he’s connecting them. It resonated with me, because the news out there is AWESOME, but the places seems like its getting meaner, and I couldn’t get my head around all of it.

This was just another guy’s attempt.

Let’s take eating.

My grandparents ate mostly protein and fat.

We spent government money telling kids carbohydrates were AWESOME.

Cereal, toast, juice, and fruit - now go to school.

Vinnie Tortorich is a fitness guy, and he’s a no sugar/no grain proponent. One of the observations he made once had to do with the Zapruder Film.

“Find a fat person in that film. It’s as random a sampling as you’d informally want.”

Eye-opening.

Now diabetes is epidemic, and the insulin companies are just plain about the fact they are there to make insulin, not cure diabetes. It would be a fiduciary miscarriage were they to do so.

Medical indenturement.

Then give me the big picture.

I see the same things he is and I KNOW what a train wreck socialism and communism is. Secular Humanism too.

I guess that’s my point.

Amazon is selling surveillance equipment they have already demonstrated they are willing to use against us, and people are buying it like its going out of style.

We’re buying our own shackles. Nobody blinks.

IMHO, coming out of the 60’s and 70’s I believed the Liberal plan was to turn us into a Socialist Republic by 1990.

Reagan got elected and threw a HUGE monkey wrench into their plans. And the temper-tantrum hasn’t stopped since.

I love Trump. I think he may end up sending some of these people to jail, and if so, you might be right.

The American collapse is being forced on us by globalists. Globalists, and not the American people, control two of the most important things to our countries survival: Unbridled LEGAL and illegal immigration and free access given to the world to the US consumer market with no reciprocal access of our goods in theirs and off shoring of the industrial base. These things are destroying this once great nation.

It’s really simple: This is what happens to a once God-fearing society that allows God to be kicked out. Read the Old Testament for gosh sakes - it’s this story... over, and over, AND OVER again!! The Jews never learned and neither will we. But don’t worry, God is still on his throne and Jesus IS King of Kings, and Lord of Lords. Come quickly Lord Jesus!

>>I don’t share this doom and gloom, education must be fixed.. that’s the real long term threat.<<

Long-term threat? If education was fixed tomorrow, which of course isn’t going to happen, it would do nothing to UN-indoctrinate the enormous number of people who have been conditioned since the 1960s to categorically reject the constitutional foundations of our Republic. These are the leftists who are now in firm control of the Democrat Party, and whose ranks will soon be increased as a result of our failed immigration policies. But continue to look on the bright side if it makes you feel better!

The oldest story in the world. People worship God of the Bible and they thrive. Then they get content, worship themselves, idols, and everything turns to crap and pain until they start to worship God again.

Most people are too proud and ignorant to see this. Some Godless European countries will fall to Islam without a renaissance.

I didn’t write it. I don’t do that. I don’t have a blog.

Okay, cool. You liked it so much, I thought it might be your work.

I think all that Trump's election did was forestall the end. I hate to sound all "conspiracy theory", but I think we are seeing what Khrushchev meant when he said they (the Soviets) would bury us.

I think the commies had agents in place to start the process of our decline and fall. They were very patient. You can see a list of what they did in the famous COMMUNIST GOALS. I think a lot of agents started the program, and recruited many useful idiots in America to help them. The idiots may not have even known they were commie dupes, but they nonetheless were when they started joining the extreme wings of the 'rat party, or the Sierra Club, of the ACLU or any number of organizations that sound good but are really destructive to the American way of life.

The irony is that the process of our fall outlived the Soviet Union. The machine our destruction is still operating long past the lives of its original architects.

>>Freedom without constraint of expected societal behavior becomes anarchy. This is where diversity and protected classes are slowly destroying the nation.<<

BINGO! Not only our nation but virtually every nation in the west is being destroyed, and much more rapidly than the great majority of people are even aware.

“Extreme capitalism has blown apart American society so totally that people cannot even care for one another as much as they do in places like Pakistan and Nigeria.”

Just one sentence that is an index for this being an utterly stupid piece of writing.

Liberalism and socialism has blown apart the minority community, for example.

The United States population has more than 330 million people, with tens of millions here illegally, or just barely legally. Americans are not responsible.

I read a biography of Churchill, and there was a section in there about the time after WWI.

France was a superpower - best standing army in Europe. Germany was forbidden from having an Army.

Almost immediately they violated the armistice and nobody really did anything about. Before long, Germany invaded France, and the Brits expected the French to jump up and defend their homeland.

They didn’t. They chose not to. All that war shattered them, and on an individual basis they just decided it wasn’t that important anymore.

That led to Dunkirk, of course, but what stunned Churchill was that the French had been shattered.

I spend a lot of time with high schoolers, and there is a feeling of capitulation that reminded me of Churchill’s impression of France.

What institution is telling them the truth anymore? They go to school, and school tells them to roll up $250K of debt, even though college grads are on the street. I’d rather they got mad, and decided - en masse - not to go to school, and tell them why.

They aren’t. Truancy, however, IS through the roof. Teachers have given up, period. You can get a stone F on a test, take the retake, and get an A. It’s not even a good show any more.

Agree with some of it, disagree with some of it. We must always stay vigilant and get back to God.

Capitalism is culturally neutral. Restricting or redirecting capitalism to solve the problem in our culture would have no effect.

What he means by "extreme capitalism" is hard to say. I suspect a large part of it is the absence of community and connection. That's not really something that government can provide, but when societies seem to be too totally profit-driven people can start to feel lost.

The neighborhood pub or cafe or grocery store is also private enterprise. When those get replaced by malls and big-box stores and Amazon home delivery people lose places where they can feel at home and connected and part of a community.

All of America’s problems go back to turning it’s back on God. America’s problems is not it’s economic structure , it’s the narcissism it’s embraced instead of God. This man has no idea what he is talking considering AMERICA’s biggest problem people are the people that it has to invade it that have different values and commit tons of crime and take jobs from American and the government bleeds it citizens dry to hand invaders housing , education , food and way to many areas allow them to and encourage vote to rob America’s citizens when they have no right to.

Oh and he talks about the drugs , well almost all the drugs are run by people that do not belong here.

My one nagging fear is that the destruction of education in America is the actual basis of all these cited pathologies and cannot be reversed without a Pinochet type of one man rule but when in history has there been another man who "took over," fixed the system and stepped down? Washington did something like that but he initiated a system, then declined to rule it as he could have done.

Differences between the US and Europe often get exaggerated.

They have drug problems over there.

It's just that opioids are not a big part of the problem.

Life expectancy is a little lower here.

Obesity is one big reason for that.
