Despite embodying the antithesis of the usual celebration of globalism by elites, President Donald Trump has emerged as the most fawned-over attendee of the World Economic Forum's annual conference in Davos, Switzerland, since Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt attended in 2006.
"A World Economic Forum official said no Davos attendee had gotten as much attention since Angelina Jolie," Mike Allen of the news website Axios reported.
Trump, who was never invited to Davos as a businessman, has become the focus of attention as the conference draws to a close and anticipation builds over a speech he's set to give Friday.
"Rooms and rooms of people at Davos waiting for a brief President Trump appearance," Business Insider's Alyson Shontell reported from the scene.
The scene at Davos shows a marked departure from last year, when Chinese President Xi Jinping attended and spoke. Xi spoke in defense of globalization and free trade, which was seen as a rebuke of Trump without mentioning his name.
Trump, on the other hand, is expected to do the opposite. French President Emmanuel Macron said he "strongly recommended" Trump take his "America First" message to Davos to share his vision and encounter "some form of confrontation and dialogue."

Everyone loves, and caters to, an Alpha Male...It’s in our genes, seriously.
Everyone wants to be seen with a winner. These business leaders and politicians know that deep down in their hearts they wish they had BIG BALLS like Trump and they envy that. Trump is the most successful and power Person now in the world hands down and America is once again the envy of these countries and citizens. They might not say it out loud but their citizens wished they all had a leader like Trump.
Two or here days ago I saw some an article in which some useful idiot (I don’t recall which one) predicted that he would be boycotted. He quoted some obscure “source” as stating that most of the other attendees were planning on walking out on President Trump’s speech.
Interestingly, I have not seen a follow-up story to that one.
While most would argue that Macron is reading off some other script...if you go and look at the business-side suggestions that he’s pressed on within France....all lead onto a more competitive France in the business sector. I’ll admit he’s all over the place in terms of social programs, but he’s making some changes that line up with what Trump would do if he were in charge of France.
In this Davos situation, there’s no US media filter in place. The European news folks are getting plain and pure Trump-talk.
Oops...
“Two or three days ago...”
Is that a Gretsch guitar?
Looks like it (Gretsch logo between tuning pegs).
I miss Davos. Used to ski there every weekend I could get away. I was such a dummy, I had no idea why one weekend a winter there were no hotel rooms and all these important people would be there. I didnt give a whip about the economic forum, I wanted my long Parsennbahn runs.
Another condescending, anti-Trump article that attacks him as being short on substance and big on image, similar to the airheads that populate Hollywood.
—— Xi spoke in defense of globalization and free trade-—
Trump spoke unabashadley of global business and free trade that was also fair trade
Some would call our president a globalist Free Traitor TM

Speaking of China, surprised nobody’s taking about what the ChiComs are doing in/to/all over Africa.
I bet The Donald did not have a vial of blood around his neck.
“... they wish they had BIG BALLS like Trump and they envy that...”
And they envy Air Force One rather than their puny Gulfstreams.
Our media is acting like everyone is turning up their noses to Trump.
My granddaughter was dating a really “nice” young man, I liked the guy but he seemed a little wimpy to me and I kept my mouth shut. She came to me one day for a serious talk and explained that she just couldn’t date him anymore because she wanted a “real” man.
LOL! Very cool and timely, Bobalu!
