Swing State Florida Could Add More Than One Million Felons To Voting Rolls
Daily Caller ^ | 1/23/18 | Peter Hasson

More than one million convicted felons in the swing state of Florida could receive the right to vote if a ballot measure amending Florida’s constitution passes this November.

A petition in support of the measure recently surpassed the 766,200 signatures needed to get it on the ballot. If passed, the measure would restore “the voting rights of Floridians with felony convictions after they complete all terms of their sentence including parole or probation.” It would not apply to those convicted of murder or sexual offenses.

If passed, the ballot measure could have a significant impact on election outcomes in the state.

President Donald Trump beat Hillary Clinton in Florida by 112,911 votes in the 2016 election. That’s less than one tenth of the number of felons who would rejoin voting rolls if the measure passes. Just under 1.5 million Floridians were barred from voting in the 2016 election due to felony convictions, according to The Sentencing Project.

Left-wing blog Think Progress, which first reported that the petition had garnered enough signatures, noted that “research shows that people with criminal convictions tend to vote for Democratic candidates.”

If they served their time let them vote, unless they committed vote fraud.

I would also exclude office holders who accepted bribes but that would rule out a lot of the state legislature and US Congress and Senate...

They got 4 percent to sign a petition seems unrealistic to you?

Hillary got 4.5 million votes.

If you voted for hillary, you were hard left.

Signing this thing isn’t a stretch.

Those things lend themselves to lots of fraudulent votes. I suspect that.

Would people really vote in favor of such a thing? Seems hard to believe.

Florida alread has a procedure in place where felons can apply to have their voting rights reinstated.

If they are too lazy or disinterested in voting to apply I say its too bad.

They knew (or should have known) that losing the right to vote is part of the penalty paid for committing a felony.

There is no doubt that certain people (democrats) want this ballot measure to pass because they know many felons aren’t really interested in politics and will not vote.

But that’s okay with the democrats - they will be happy to register the reinstated felons and do the voting for them - just as they already do for many other qualified voters who don’t vote.

Its an ongoing racket in the large cities.
Officials know about it but guess which party runs the large cities and has the election supervisors in place.

To tell the truth, I’m not sure where I fall on this. My first instinct is to say no, but truthfully, that’s only because I’d like to keep Democrats disenfranchised. As a Christian and a conservative, I believe that people’s rights should not be restricted once a person has served their sentence. I’ve spent too much time in court to believe justice is blind, but it seems many parole boards are dumb...

All felons are equal but some are more equal than others.

This is Soros or similar. Last election the FL Democrats pushed medical marijuana on the ballot as a ghetto GOTV drive. Now they are doing felons on the ballot. Predictable as can be.

There is big money behind this ballot initiate. Somebody like Soros or Steyer. They had canvassers camped out in front of Walmart for a long time to gather signatures.

I believe that people’s rights should not be restricted once a person has served their sentence.

Too often, the "sentence" isn't near what it should be. A recent case of a kidnapping a young girl turned on the fact that the felon had kept her on heroin. His attorney said her testimony was to be thrown out because of her condition. This illegal also committed murder during the same "spree"—the kidnapped girl survived. (Hannity today).

WHAT THE HELL!!!

We can win without Florida - all we need to do is beat the Dems in California and New York.

Can’s see a DAMN THING WRONG with that plan.

If the felons did their time - let the Dems have Florida - after all WE DON’T NEED IT - we’ll just win CALIFORNIA and NEW YORK - no problem!!!

(hint - it’s not 1980, or 1984, anymore)

Not votes. Signatures. To place it on the ballot. No one ever approached me or anyone I know here in Florida to sign anything. It's always the way it is down here. Suddenly all these signatures just magically appear. Like for legalized marijuana. Same chit different day. We are circling the drain.

Felons are by definition against the rule of law and have not the slightest qualm about violating other peoples rights for their own personal gain. Thats why they vote democrat
