Gov. Phil Scott has signed Vermont's marijuana legalization bill into law. A Scott administration official tells WCAX the governor signed the bill shortly before 2 p.m. Monday. Scott is now the first governor in the country to sign marijuana legalization into law. Eight other states legalized marijuana through public referendums. In a letter to lawmakers, Scott said he signed the bill, H.511, with "mixed emotions." The bill allows Vermonters over the age of 21 to have an ounce of weed and to grow a few plants. Once signed, the new law goes into effect July 1.

Better to arrest every pot head. We don’t have enough people in prison already.

Pretty soon people will be able to smoke pot anywhere they want.

But light up that cigarette and you will be ostracized from the establishment.

.
Bad news!

Vermont is a constitutional carry state, and pot and guns cannot mix. Something has to give.

Dopers may think this is a victory for their side. But it's not...
The bill allows Vermonters over the age of 21 to have an ounce of weed and to grow a few plants.
What happens if you're caught with 1.2 oz? What if you have more than a few plants? And what constitutes a "few"?

The WOD continues....

Sounds like these morons started partaking of the wacky weed a bit early.

“A road trip to Vermont took a left turn on Friday, Jan. 12, 2018, when three friends landed their borrowed car at the bottom of Burlington Bay in Lake Champlain. The driver says he was following directions from the Waze app.”

I'm a commercial pilot. What happens if I'm involved in an accident/incident?

They're going to make me pee in a cup and the Governor of Vermont is going to be no help.

Here in CA the signage says:
“Drive high, get a DUI”

Works for me.

It should be legal, at least as a State’s Rights issue, but driving is a privilege, not a right.

You’re right - talk about hypocrisy.

There’s got to be a reason they demonize cigarettes while at the same time encourage/normalize pot.

Seems that the NWO wants us physically fit but dumb as a box of rocks and apathetic.

I am very angry about this. Scott originally said he would not sign this unless there became a way to accurately measure cannabis intoxication behind the wheel. He appears to have dropped that condition without explanation that I know of.

This marijuana legalization was favored by our moonbat, ponytailed Lt. Governor—David Zuckerman—who hails from the ultra liberal, well-to-do, pot stench community of Brighton, Massachusetts. Ugh.

Scott handed a victory to that creep by signing this bill. A veto would very likely have been upheld by the Vermont House.

The people who will be hurt by this do not come from the Zuckerman segment of society. Certain poor and working class kids will be sitting ducks for lives to be destroyed by easy and legal access to weed.

Shame on you, Phil Scott.

Good for Vermont.

Seems their citizens supported this & their duly elected representatives paid attention.
