Byron York: Congress seeks answers after FBI claims texts missing in Trump-Russia probe
Washington Examiner ^

Posted on 01/21/2018 6:53:38 PM PST by Bigtigermike

Investigators in both House and Senate were stunned late Friday when, receiving a batch of newly-released texts between FBI officials Peter Strzok and Lisa Page, they also received notice from the bureau that the FBI "failed to preserve" Strzok-Page messages from December 14, 2016 through May 17, 2017.

Given the amount of texting that went on between Strzok and Page, who were having an extramarital affair, that probably meant thousands of missing documents.

A number of critical events in the Trump-Russia affair occurred between December 2016 and May 2017, including:

Conversations between Trump national security adviser Michael Flynn and Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak.

The completion and publication of the intelligence community assessment of Russian interference in the 2016 election.

The briefing in which FBI director James Comey told President-elect

Donald Trump about the Trump dossier. The president's inauguration.

The nomination and confirmation of new Justice Department leadership.

Flynn's interview with the FBI (conducted by Strzok).

Comey's assurances to Trump that he, Trump, was not under investigation.

A variety of revelations, mostly in the Washington Post and New York

Times, about various Trump figures under investigation.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions' recusal from the Russia probe.

The firing of top Obama Justice Department holdover Sally Yates.

Trump's tweet alleging he was wiretapped.

Trump's firing of Comey.

And, finally, on May 17, 2017 — the final day of the missing texts — the appointment of Trump-Russia special prosecutor Robert Mueller.

Until it is torn asunder and rebuilt, the FBI is for me, American Stasi.

If they would release the FISA memo tomorrow... today... it would help get this budget passed and it would put heavy leverage on the dems, the FBI and the media to change their tactics. If what is in that memo is as they have described, then get it out ... to stop the foolishness still going on with the lying and mischaracterizing of everything.

I didn’t get the channel changed soon enough and wallace was on there going after Trump... that might stop if the memo was out and the dirty politics were showed up for what they are. For 9 years they have praised a criminal... adored the man I could not stand to look at or hear talk... and they have tried to destroy Trump.. I want their dirt/crimes/tricks to see the light of day and their lies shown for what they are.. I want them to SHUT UP!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
NO WE DEFINITELY DO NOT WANT THE MEMO OUT -— NOW.
I was reading Larry Schweikart a day or so ago, either his Twitter or posts on FR which I skim regularly.
There is always more to the story, and in this case much more. He makes a very good case for not letting some things out now. That is all I remember.
Another probe or investigation where something is MISSING or gone awry and NOTHING will ever come of it but more pointless POLITICAL TALK as a new Kabuki theater act emerges.
First one who sings, gets immunity. The others get jail. No deals - no pensions, no perks, no honored place in FBI lure.
Sorry to tell you that the real world doesn't operate like the "Law & Order" TV series you're referring to.
In the political arena nothing worse then.. you stop stealing from the taxpayers and GO HOME a wealthy political retiree.. WITH pension.
"That is an apparent reference to instances in the texts in which Strzok and Page told each other that they were switching to iMessage for further conversation, suggesting they might have moved their discussion of sensitive topics from their government-issued Samsung devices to private Apple devices."
Nothing is 'lost' in iMessage. Apple says "30 days"; more like 30 years lol.
These two rubes would presumably believe going off-fed to their personal iPhones actually gave them greater security, therefore anything Congress needs to know to charge these two, and Comey, and Lynch, and Clinton, and Obama is sitting on an Apple server on the West Coast. And more than likely scraped by Carniv0re/Pr!sm/Ech3lon...
Any Federal contractor is required to archive all company emails for a minimum of seven years under penalty of prosecution. Charges need to be brought. This is an intolerable level of deep-state corruption...
What do you want them to do? The job of prosecution belongs to Jeff Sessions.
I agree we need a SC buy Sessions need to go before that happens. Odd how all the emails keep coming up missing. no other emails are missing just these. You can bet they have every pc of correspondence concerning trump though. I have more faith in the NY mafia than I would the FBI on the 7th floor in DC and the DOJ. These crooked A-holes didn’t just start this they have been doing it for a long time. To start Nunes need to take a vote to release the memo and send it to trump. Trump could declassify these doc on his own and why he is not doing it is beyond me. maybe he a sessions are trying to protect the Clinton’s
Add this to this:
The FBI informed congress over the weekend that what is ostensibly our nation’s top, numero uno, bestest of all the best law enforcement agencies has had a computer “glitch” and “lost” five months worth of texts between deep state FBI agent Peter Strzok and his illicit lover, deep state DOJ lawyer Lisa Page. That five month period began on December 14, 2016, the date that the fake news media began pushing the false narrative that Vladimir Putin personally ordered the hacking of the DNC computers in mid-2016.
Sessions won’t prosecute anyone unless they happen to like marijuana. He’s as dirty as the rest of the deep state and is the one providing cover for all these antics.
Answers? How about, “Where are the backups?”, and, “Who exactly is being fired over this dereliction of duty, if not outright obstruction of justice?”...
