Byron York: Congress seeks answers after FBI claims texts missing in Trump-Russia probe
Washington Examiner ^

Posted on 01/21/2018 6:53:38 PM PST by Bigtigermike

Investigators in both House and Senate were stunned late Friday when, receiving a batch of newly-released texts between FBI officials Peter Strzok and Lisa Page, they also received notice from the bureau that the FBI "failed to preserve" Strzok-Page messages from December 14, 2016 through May 17, 2017.

Given the amount of texting that went on between Strzok and Page, who were having an extramarital affair, that probably meant thousands of missing documents.

A number of critical events in the Trump-Russia affair occurred between December 2016 and May 2017, including:

Conversations between Trump national security adviser Michael Flynn and Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak.

The completion and publication of the intelligence community assessment of Russian interference in the 2016 election.

The briefing in which FBI director James Comey told President-elect

Donald Trump about the Trump dossier. The president's inauguration.

The nomination and confirmation of new Justice Department leadership.

Flynn's interview with the FBI (conducted by Strzok).

Comey's assurances to Trump that he, Trump, was not under investigation.

A variety of revelations, mostly in the Washington Post and New York

Times, about various Trump figures under investigation.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions' recusal from the Russia probe.

The firing of top Obama Justice Department holdover Sally Yates.

Trump's tweet alleging he was wiretapped.

Trump's firing of Comey.

And, finally, on May 17, 2017 — the final day of the missing texts — the appointment of Trump-Russia special prosecutor Robert Mueller.

For the missing texts to end on the very day Mueller was appointed points to him being involved in the conspiracy; in that his name was most likely mentioned between Peter and Lisa in that time. It’s too conspicuous for it not to have him wrapped up in this now with the gap ending on that very day

Yes, they’ll write a sternly-worded letter to the FBI. Yawn.

How long till Schumer and Schiff start deriding the effort to get to the bottom of the FBI e-mail deletion "glitch" as a "witch hunt" and a "transparent attempt to distract attention from the Trump-Russia collusion story" ?

By the way, in any criminal trial, the destruction of evidentiary records or papers is automatically seen as an evidence of deception that can be interpreted by the jury as evidence of guilt. Judges so instruct juries all the time.

It would seem that those involved at the FBI know they are in deep trouble, and their only option is to dump evidence and hope that they can somehow escape prosecution. What country are we living in?

Fedzilla is never going to come clean.
The Kenyan from Indonesia had eight years to pack every agency with true believers.

The Kenyanesian Usurpation should never have happened.

Unless there are dozens or even hundreds of other identical phones that had the same “configuration error”, a criminal investigation needs to..... forget that. A special counsel, appointed by Trump himself, needs to be assigned to investigate and prosecute the members of this attempted coup.

....... My Guess is that somebody of note in Mueller’s text thread was fingered in the so called “4 Page Memo” which probably contained damning evidence of treasonous actions and therefore those threads have magically vanished into the netherworld of Unamerican Activities which seems to be so fashionable these days. In Short ..... No evidence .... No prosecution. And the Happy Traitor gets to keep that smarmy smirk on his or her face.

Yep. At the very minimum these dirt bags can get stuck in a perjury trap like Flynn was subjected to.

I believe that's exactly what happened.

They'll all retire with big pensions paid for by you.

I believe it’s a race against time. Mueller and the conspirators knows that ‘something’ will come out that will ultimately end the special counsel investigation into the Fake Russian scandal and they are looking into obstruction of justice or something like a process crime to take Trump or enough people out. Whoever is on Trump side, I don’t know who and they probably don’t want the conspirators to know who, is trying to get all of this stuff out before the conspirators last gasp

Stonewalling FBI Director Chris Wray, Acting AG Rod Rosenswamp and recused AG Jeff Sessions fail miserably to retain key evidence.

We, the public, are never going to see this resolved. The deep state run by #44 has all the players in place to keep this locked up forever. The NSA, CIA, and FBI need to be purged completely and that means civil service also.

A lot on Comey’s “watch”, along with McCabe, Yates, etc.

The corruption in the Bureau if far wider and deeper than ever imagined. A lots of people need to go to jail. First one who sings, gets immunity. The others get jail. No deals - no pensions, no perks, no honored place in FBI lure.

Sleepy Sessions does need to be publicly humiliated about this evidence destruction. But then a beltway lifer like him clearly has no shame and won’t resign. The only way he will come out of DOJ is toes up, IMO.
