Adulthood now begins at 24, say scientists as young people delay work, marriage and families

At 21 I had been married 5 years, and was negotiating the purchase of my second house, attending college for a professional degree, and had been working full time for six years and supporting myself.

At 22 son owns income property and lives there, has been working full time for 5 years and is looking for a wife.

Plenty of kids are ready to hit the ground running and start their lives at 14 but the job protection measures of the Teachers unions have imprisoned them for another four years. The culture has imprisoned them for a total of six to eight by telling them they need college.

Apprenticeships and work and school programs both formal and informal mature adolescents into thinking, creative, adults.

A person may lack life experience at that age, but they are still adults by law. LIBS trying to redefine what an Adult is. If that is the case drinking, driving, draft, voting, marriage age all have to be moved to 24.

I started working at 18, married at 20, at 24 I was head of household, working full time’ with 2 boys. I kicked their abusive father who used his ‘Vietnam war trauma’ (in the motor pool) as his excuse for turning abusive out. Never bought that story.

But they let a 6 year old “decide” to have a sex “change” operation, or to “become” gay. They give a 14 year old an abortion without telling her parents. They push for consensual sex at 16.

And now this. Insanity.

The whole idea of “Social Scientist” is an asinine communist front! Their whole claim to fame was science could explain human behavior.

Adulthood is the age at which a child, as trained and developed by his/her parents, was able to shoulder the responsibiiities for him/herself.

This snowflake generation has been coddled and ignored by parents, who passed off their development to the NEA, who shielded them from reality with participation trophies and false approval. Now, they are the world’s lunch.

Thanks to the failures of society, by 25, they are too old to spank, their parents are too old to support them, and the NEA is too busy indoctrinating the children that haven’t been aborted.

Oh, yeah! And my son wasn’t inspired by the social scientists in college, so he got a part-time job throwing feed at the local Tractor Supply store. In six months was full-time and a team leader. A two years later an assistant store manager and then store manager straightening out two stores. Hired away to another company and now 25, married this month and straightening out his second store at this company.

Obviously, I have failed society. My son is not a Snowflake. Oh, the shame of it!

And as far as this article, "scientists" have ruined any credibility they ever had. You and I were adults - I flew with people at or below that age, adults all and trusted with our country's security.

Having said that I am fine with defining adulthood at 24 if it delays their ability to vote until 24.

Most societies have had coming of age rituals that marked becoming a man, well before the age of 24. In some it was 12 to 14, in others 16 to 18, in others 21.

We are taking the pressure to “mature” and take personal responsibility off of adult children. Look at ObamaCare’s you can stay on your parent's health insurance until age 26.
