Gov. Jerry Brown D-Calif. has once again denied parole for Leslie Van Houten, the youngest follower of late murderous cult leader Charles Manson who blamed herself at her parole hearing Friday for letting him control her life.
Brown said in his decision that Van Houten, 68, still laid too much of the blame on Manson, who died two months ago at 83.
Brown acknowledged that Van Houten's youth at the time of the crime, her more than four decades as a model prisoner and her abuse at the hands of Manson make it worth considering her release. While in prison, Van Houten has received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees and was an “exceptional” tutor, Brown wrote.
"However," he wrote in his decision "these factors are outweighed by negative factors that demonstrate she remains unsuitable for parole."
Van Houten is serving life for the murders of wealthy grocer Leno LaBianca and his wife, Rosemary, when Vshe was 19. They were stabbed a day after other Manson followers killed pregnant actress Sharon Tate and four other people in Los Angeles. Van Houten was not with the group during murder of Tate, director Roman Polanski’s wife and four others.

If she got a sex change while in prison she would be fast tracked for release and celebrated by the press.

It is a real shame the families have to go through this every year, when she was originally sentenced to death. Her sentenced was commuted to life, she is still alive, what doesn’t the parole board understand?
Maybe she could accuse Trump of being crazy?

And that right there is a problem. This murdering hippie scumbag is able to earn two degrees while in prison at tax payer expense, while some poor schlub is working beaucoup OT to give his or her kid the same chance. Insane!
I couldn’t agree more.
None of the Manson family that are alive should even be considered for parole in my view.
if she was black, she’d be on parole....she was a stupid, drugged idiot at age 19......

Oh come on! She was just a “youth”! Only 19. She couldn’t possibly know what she was doing while helping slaughter a man and his pregnant wife.
Isn’t that the attitude when Muslim “youths” in Europe kill people in terror attacks?

Yep, I remember all too well when these murders took place.
The hippies, the war protesters and their drug use as well as the turmoil over the Vietnam war.
Mrs. jaz and I had both been in the military and had been married four years before the LaBianca murders. We lived in a city only a few miles from where Van Houten had lived and gone to high school.
I’ve no sympathy whatsoever for her or the people she got mixed up with, at all.
My worry would be she would be hired as a professor at Buzzerkly or some other California college to teach the next generation. She has her Masters and bachelors at taxpayer expense.
Never neglect Drawing and Quartering nor Keel-hauling.
Why isn’t she dead from execution?
