Mayor Catherine Pugh fired Baltimores top cop Friday, saying she had grown impatient with Commissioner Kevin Davis inability to stem the historic pace of killings in the city now stretching into a third year.
She named Deputy Commissioner Darryl D. De Sousa, the top commander in the Police Departments patrol bureau, as Davis replacement, effective immediately, and said she would ask the City Council to make the appointment permanent.
Crime is now spilling out all over the city, and weve got to focus, Pugh said. I am charging [De Sousa] and his staff to get on top of it to reduce the numbers and to reduce them quickly.

Thank you LBJ.
Sure, but it’s still stupid.
Those are two different aspects, though. If law enforcement is weak, that’s not helping, either.
This is a new Mayor, actually.
I thought the first season was the best. I tried to watch season two but could not get into it and gave up.
Thanx.
“If law enforcement is weak, thats not helping, either.”
My guess, based on the article, is that the city government, which is essentially all Black, has gutted the police department by attempting to set the “rules of engagement.” It isn’t the cops, it’s their leadership. The last “mayor” actually demanded that the PD “stand down” so the “citizens” could “let of a little steam!”
The major problem in Black majority cities today is that their Black “leaders” are not their best and brightest. Just look at what 20 years of Coleman Young did to Detroit. Now that we have an economy that will support a decent level of Black employment, we need to demand that they welfare “tit” go out of business in large measure.
Preaching to the choir here. Of course, White leftist Mayors tended to precede these Black leftist Mayors and the latter merely compounded horrible and destructive policies (Jerry Cavanagh got the ball rolling in Detroit in the ‘60s, interrupted by Conservative Democrat Roman Gribbs, who tried to turn things around, but it was too late and then came Commie Coleman Young).
I live a half mile away from the city. Except for the Green Zone along the harbor and a few verdant enclaves in the north end of town, it is an American Shit Hole. This is due to its government and a large percentage of its residents.
“Preaching to the choir here.”
I’m sure you’re correct, but what happens in all these cities is that the Blacks become enough of a voting bloc to install “Black leadership,” then the snowball just gathers speed at a higher rate. I mean look at Houston. Thanks to Katrina, Houston “took” black refugees from NOLA. Now Houston has gone from a white female queer mayor to a black one. Look for Houston to replicate the other “black majority cities” in short order. I mean look what they’ve done, in electing Shiela Jackson-Lee. That’s Black excrement of the highest order.
“This is a new Mayor, actually.”
That is a difference without a distinction! They replace one corrupt Black Female Mayor (Stephanie Rawlings-Blake) with another (Pugh). If the Black residents really cared about fixing things, they need better stock in the people they elect.
Houston elected a Black Mayor 20 years ago, so it’s not a recent thing. A lot of these cities, though, haven’t exactly been bastions of Conservative Republicanism. To my knowledge, Houston has only elected 1 GOP Mayor since after Reconstruction, and that was 40 years ago. Most of Houston’s Mayors have sucked, so it’s par for the course.
As for Jackson-Lee, she’s been in Congress since 1994 in a district that has been sending far-left Black Dems since 1972 (starting with Barbara Jordan). Virtually every Black majority/plurality district (all Voting Rights Act-protected seats) send absolutely execrable individuals to office deviating almost none from the race-baiting professional victimist/Stalinist script with little exception. These folks aren’t there to lift up their constituents, but to protect their fiefdoms and keep their peeps perpetually angry and impoverished. What’s so utterly shocking is how long it has worked for, effectively now for 54 years in the South and 84 in the North.
I differentiate between Rawlings-Blake and current Mayor Pugh in that the latter seems to be attempting to break away from some Democrat dogmas. Pugh’s predecessors could care less about fixing the problems or even discussing them, but she has been a lot more open about it and has shown willingness to begin to address them. I was also surprised when Pugh announced she opposed raising the minimum wage, stating it would hurt her constituents and leave even more low-end workers without jobs. That alone shows she has some grasp of basic economics and reasoning skills.

And yet most Texans don’t seem the least bit worried about their state turning blue! Texas is really not much different than California, in that it has large rural areas that are sparsely populated, and a group of very large RAT-run cities. But you need to couple with that the advancing Mexican RAT-run counties that border the Rio Grande. In that regard, Texas is different that California, because we have only two counties ( San Diego and Imperial) that have a common border with Mexico. Plus Texas has something on the order of 300 counties some of which aren’t much bigger than a three-car garage, and what I see now is that the counties that border Mexico are all Mexican RAT run and the next tier northward is also nearly all run by Mexican RATs. And yet Conservative Texans simply refuse to see the handwriting on the wall for their state.
My solution is to shoot the bad people but that would mean the city council and mayor may also be shot....
That’s your opinion.
Actually I think it’s possible that she might be committing a random act of journalism.
Looks to me like those guys are enjoying their fifteen minutes.
