Washington (CNN)With hours to go before a midnight deadline for Congress to fund the government or shut it down, most Americans say avoiding a shutdown is more important than passing a bill to maintain the program allowing people brought to the US illegally as children to stay, according to a new CNN poll conducted by SSRS

Let Dems ...
Doesn’t it only require 50 votes to get budget items, like the CR, through the senate? Why should dem input be required?
Democrat chant. What do we want? Cheap labor! When do we want it? Now!
What do we need? More votes! When we need it? Now!
Need 60 to be able to bring it to a vote?
No illegal alien should be protected from our laws by any elected official.

The ads against the RATs for the mid-term elections will write themselves. A two to one vote against the $hitball Schumer Shutdown, in a country that’s more or less evenly divided politically at the moment, should send shivers down the spines of the RATs running for re-election in districts carried by President Trump.
60 votes now they say.
But your right the Senate simply needs to change the rules.
Democrats are holding your tax refunds hostage to protect illegals for their votes.
No Tax Refunds during the Schmuck Schumer Shutdown.
Bringing foreign people here...housing them, schooling them, feeding them, all for what? Well, in slavery it was a one-time payment for cheap labor....but these days, it’s continuous payment for cheap labor.
Dems want it. Rinos want it. The US Chamber of Commerce wants it. Not to mention most elitist liberals.
The lower paying, $h/+ jobs can be passed down to the cheap labor brigade. Americans then get higher paying jobs...just like during slavery.
The unsuspecting bank of neuvo-slaves will enjoy the best lives every, be paid for it, and have stylish housing, free education, and even...a car, or two.
The auction block is now the Congress of the the United States...by granting the new wards everything they need to live, it’s a bidding process for...yep...the cheapest labor.
In return for this, the only serious indenturement required is to always vote democrat. That’s it! No monetary paybacks, and in most cases, not taxation, whatsoever.
The affected ($h/_+Hole) countries love it, they get rid of the poorest that affect their countries, and the ex-pats send hoards of American dollars home to pump up their economy (dictators coffers).
So, it’s just really Modified Slavery, a form of insurance for a future of socialistic and oppressive dictators taking over our land of the free.
I’ve seen their plan to turn Red states to Blue, using these dreamers, for a democrat future. And with a gimme a free living plan, they’ll multiply exponentially, beginning with their entire extended families and their spouses extended families.
What then? Well, then...our Grandchildren will also be living in a $h1+Hole country.
Make no mistake....it’s not a refugee plan, it’s an INVASION. America is about to start downhill at a rapid pace.
I’m 72, and I could say, well...not much skin off my nose...but it is for my kids, my grandkids, and great-great, etc.
Our great-great-great-great grandparents risked their lives, and fortunes, for us...should be do the same?
Count this as another of a string of rejections for DACA? When will Democrats realize it is dead, give it up, and help plan an orderly deportation of these illegal aliens and their families.
We’ve come a long way in the direction of destruction. Stepping back, it’s just hard to believe.
No duh! Shutdown the citizens government for people here illegally - A booger eating moron can see its a big looser. Deport the DACAns - we the people are tired of this stupid issue taking up the governments time and our money.
...and their fellow enemy islamists and facilitators.
The democrats are trying to garner new votes from the illegal aliens and from the dreamers. They will do whatever it takes to influence them, without regard for the rest of the people in this country.
The $64 question:
Do the congresscritters still get paid if the gubmint shuts down?
Senate parliamentarians are hopefully considering the other options they have.
1) One is that there is a clause in the Reconciliation Rules that says the President of the Senate makes the final determination whether a bill meets the reconciliation rules. That man is Mike Pence. So the Pubbies can propose that a bill, say immigration reform, meets reconciliation. The girly-men (whoops, I meant the Democrats, and by girly-men I include Tammy Baldwin of Wisconsin) object. The Pubbies take it to Pence, who happens to be sitting in the chamber, and he rules in favor of the GOP. Voila! Only 51 votes are needed.
2) Or, the Pubbies can change the filibuster rules back to only one filibuster at a time, e.g., get rid of “parallel track” filibusters, which will force them to hold the floor while they filibuster. That means Dick “Big Weenie” Durban won’t be able to filibuster a bill when what he is really doing is have his bottle of mother’s milk after a long day at the office. It means that Chuckie “Putz” Schumer will have to use superglue to hold those reading glasses on his nose while he reads from the Washington DC phone book. Unfortunately, Patty Murray will be unable to participate in the filibuster because, like most low-IQ Americans, she has only a 500-word vocabulary, and that will only get her through about 5 minutes of filibustering.
3) Or, the Pubbies can just use the nuclear option once and for all, and dispense with the filibuster.
It’s time for the GOP to get some gonads!
This explains it rather well:
