Fed's misconduct in Cliven Bundy case stems from Ruby Ridge

Federal judge Gloria Navarro slammed the FBI and Justice Department on Monday, Jan. 8, for “outrageous” abuses and “flagrant misconduct” in the prosecution of Cliven Bundy and sons, the Nevada ranchers who spurred a high-profile standoff with the FBI and Bureau of Land Management in 2014. Navarro condemned the "grossly shocking” withholding of evidence from defense counsel in a case that could have landed the Bundys in prison for the rest of their lives. Navarro, who had declared a mistrial last month, dismissed all charges against the Bundys.

Navarro was especially riled because the FBI spent three years covering up or lying about the role of their snipers in the 2014 standoff. The Bundys faced conspiracy charges because they summoned militia to defend them after claiming FBI snipers had surrounded their ranch. Justice Department lawyers scoffed at this claim but newly-released documents vindicate the Bundys. In an interview Saturday, Ammon Bundy reviled the feds: “They basically came to kill our family, they surrounded us with snipers. And then they wanted to lie about it all like none of it happened."

What a pack of shabby, dishonorable bums.

NO CLASS.

Almost 20 kids burned to death at Waco.

Howie Carr frequently points out that Boston had 4 FBI agents on the take from the Buldgers quite some decades ago.

JEdger was no Saint.

Note that Zer0 Very Special Federal Bureau of Matters Agents have resigned in protest over Mueller/Comey/McCabe behavior.

Terrible story but it seems to me there were some freepers here against the Bundy family. I forget the reasons why.

Sadly, even FR has it’s share of $hit balls trolling around.

“They basically came to kill our family, they surrounded us with snipers. And then they wanted to lie about it all like none of it happened."

And that's it in a nutshell. Disbar and jail the fed lawyers for that favorite liberal word, 'conspiracy and collusion', arrest and prosecute the agents involved in setting this family up and hand the Bundies a few trainloads full of greenbacks as a reminder to not do this kind of crap ever again.

So true. Disgusting. So glad the Bundys lived to tell their side. Just so lipucky they stayed in the news long enough to tell their side ;). The boot lickers here can’t seem to differentiate.

I believe the main two reasons for people opposing the Bundy's were that:

1) It was not good optics. They made the Right look like the cartoonish militia men of liberals' fever dreams, and

2) Some believed that the land was indeed federal property and the Bundy's were basically living off it illegally. They should have been glad for the time they had and gave it up freely when asked.

I don't think that many people dug deeply into the story to compare the claims of the Bundy's against those of the Feds. Nor did people dig deeply into how the actual conflict began and escalated.

People were just going with their guts, which is understandable given the shear volume of injustice and decadence presented to us via FR on a daily basis.

The Ruby Ridge case was actually worse than that. The federal marshal who instigated the firefight did so by killing a dog that had proved inconvenient to them and went up there armed specifically for that reason, and threw rocks into Weaver's back yard to get the dog to respond. Randy Weaver was shot in the back as he went to check on his dead son Sammy's body in an outbuilding. Vicki was shot in her doorway holding an infant to her breast. Weaver and Harris did not surrender to the FBI, his 16-year-old daughter Sarah did so after spending eleven days lying in her mother's blood waiting for the federals to assault them. There were no booby-traps, no automatic weapons, no shooting at a helicopter, absolutely nothing that the media and the FBI claimed at the time. A federal jury acquitted the Weavers and Harris of all charges except failure to appear. Three people dead, others' lives ruined, and the killer whisked away to safety and has never so much as been charged. Oh, and Waco followed shortly thereafter and that same killer was there too.

And that's really the pattern with the Bundy case, and, for that matter, with all of the other antics in DC involving the FBI trying to bring down a President. If you let that sort of abuse go, that's where it leads to.

There are folks here from Nevada that don’t appreciate seeing the Bundys grazing their cattle for free. That was the root cause of the issue with BLM. The feds had won a lengthy legal battle against the Bundys and then screwed it up from there. The feds need to recognize what a loser the heavy handed tactics are in this kind of situation.

Beyond all the blood, the core issue at Ruby Ridge was the use of “Rules of Engagement.” Law Enforcement cannot ever use ROE to justify the use of any force. They must constantly evaluate the need of the government (protection of people, property, enforcement of the law) against the 4th Amendment rights of the target of that force. If a suspect does not meet the criteria set in Garner v. Tennessee, you cannot use deadly force against them. Issuing ROE sets up a massive potential for that kind of effort.

HRT has had a couple of amazing successes, but they have also had some immense failures. With the kinds of resources they are allocated those failures should not be happening.

Their cows were eating Federal grass.

They held grazing rights on that land for generations - and the Feds have no constitutional right to that land - ... but Reid had, reportedly, had a lucrative deal in the offing from the Chinese for that land...

the most egregious lie about both Waco and RR is that the feds claimed they wanted to save children, or something..

truth is they could have had Randy or Koresh easily if they simply waited in town...

these things do not happen in a vacuum....

it seems to me since about that time the cops learned that it was them against us...and it was going to be allowed...
