NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Two Republican lawmakers have introduced legislation to make medical marijuana legal in Tennessee, but only in oil-based products.
Sen. Steve Dickerson of Nashville and Rep. Jeremy Faison of Cosby announced the bill's filing Thursday amid wide support for medical marijuana in state polls.

Dickerson is an M.D. incidentally.
For your interest.
My ex is a 2 time breast cancer survivor. Weed was the ONLY thing that stopped the nausea and vomiting. Believe me when I tell you, chemo vomiting is not your everyday vomiting.
Tennessee is Ripe for this change
Truly, however, I expected Kentucky to convert first
Marinol has been legal in Tennessee under constrained indications
30 years ago I visited a friend in Kentucky. He took me deep into the woods and showed me where it grew wild ... abundant and healthy.
Heroin is nothing like cannabis - and morphine and other opioids are available by prescription.
Seems like we are headed to a total libertine society
Medicine is "libertine"?
I'd like to live in a country that abides by the Constitution. If this means that some people exercise their freedom to drink beer and smoke weed for recreation, so be it.
Honestly, I'd rather live with stoners than sanctimonious busybodies.
“Whats next, medical heroin? Seems like we are headed to a total libertine society”
Heroin was always available by prescription. Today opiods far stronger than heroin can be prescribed to children in all 50 states. A doctor can prescribe METH to a child for “attention defecit”.
Yet a natural plant that anyone can grow and is prescribed by doctors warrants a swat team invasion under federal law.
Can it be any more obvious that this is all about profit and not at all about health?
I would like all drugs to be legalized. 1) It would make hundreds of liberty-killing laws obsolete and 2) the morons who take the stuff would quickly kill themselves off.
Keep everybody high, that’s a good plan. certainly suits the people in power very well doesn’t it?
I'm not a stoner - but I fully support the legality of medical marijuana, because it's been shown to have medical benefits.
It makes people lazier and stupider.
Whereas alcohol makes them more energetic and smarter?
Do you really want to live in a country where a large percentage of the population gets stoned all the time?
Legalizing states have seen only modest if any bumps in usage; reality contradicts your Chicken Little scenario.
Ditto.
Hysteria much?
How about instead of "everything goes", just settling for "everything which doesn't infringe on other peoples' rights"—via force, fraud, or negligence—goes?
Not libertine—"one devoid of most moral or sexual restraints"—but, you know, good, old fashioned, bona fide Freedom?
The kind of "Freedom" that doesn't seek to incarcerate peaceable Americans for simply possessing or imbibing the wrong plant, medicine, or liquid spirits?
Contraband Law is a Tyrannical joke.
Agree - medical cannabis has a valid place (I’m not really opposed to actual legalization as it doesn’t screw one up more than over drinking) and it was crucial for our son when he was undergoing chemo - (keep it mum that it wasn’t legally available to him.....)
