A partial government shutdown could result in double pay for hundreds of thousands of federal workers if Congress and President Trump dont quickly agree to a spending package.
Federal funding runs out midnight Friday and a General Services Administration pay period ends the next day, meaning a shutdown lasting even one day through Saturday could trigger penalties under a Great Depression-era law.
If employees arent paid on time, the Fair Labor Standards Act allows "liquidated damages" that could double a worker's pay.

And not having to work either.
Double dipper for federal “workers.”
I really wonder what Trump has up his sleeve on this.
Somehow is he going to make sure the Congress Critters don’t get paid?
Or they might never get paid.
Marco Polo
That never happens. Where did they dig this up?
Paying federal workers 2X to stay home would be a bargain.
Shutdowns don’t save money. They are enormously unpopular, and the press always blames the Republicans no matter what. And they accomplish nothing politically either.
Not to get off subject, but is anyone here this? My father just called me saying they found “earth shattering evidence” of illegal acts by Democraps to harm Trumps Presidency and news of this will be released soon. I mean DUH! of course there is evidence but nothing is done about it, but he said it was something he heard that will blow everything out of the water, obvious hand in the cookie jar stuff. Hmmmm.
Total madness. They’re already getting paid vacation.
Trump needs to start fixing Washington.
How about we just fire them instead?
Is the journalist certain that this “double pay” isn’t simply the additional “back pay” non-essential workers get after the shutdown expires?
There has been some buzz out there for awhile now with all the Q Anon stuff. I hope they are correct.
CGato
I heard someone say PDJT gets to determine what services are non essential. He could either declare none, or he could designate State Department, EPA, and Education, or he could decide 10% of ever agency is non-essential
He heard it’s about to blow wide open, I hope. Maybe it’s a recording of B. Hussein, Comey, Lynch or Hillary planning to do Trump in? We know that’s what happened, but maybe it’s something that is so hardcore evidence wise it will be impossible to ignore.
This is BS. Political views aside, these workers have earned the pay through the 19th. The Continuing Resolution they are currently in that runs out tomorrow midnight, allows for the fedgov to pay their workers for all work through tomorrow midnight. Simply because there’s one extra day to worry about means nothing. Only those who were scheduled to work on Saturday are affected. None of the others would be.
Shame on Congress! Shame, shame, shame! We KNZoW what you are doing! We know! We know!
NO WALL!!!! No daca!
Is this what Sara Carter was hinting at last week?
During the 42 years I was a ‘federal employee,’ the first 20 as an active duty Army enlisted and officer, and another 22 as a Department of the Army civilian historian, I never received any ‘double pay’ for the times the government shut down. For the active duty military they can continue to be paid under the 1861 Feed and Forage Act which is still public law: https://www.foreffectivegov.org/sites/default/files/budget/feedandforageact.pdf

What a clueless idiot. The only way Federal workers would not be paid Friday is if they have to receive a physical paycheck from someone in the office where they work. For all employees who have direct deposit, the money will be credit to their accounts first thing tomorrow morning.
All payments for services performed prior to Friday are already qued up in the computers.
