Theres no better place on Earth to talk about NFL players protesting during the national anthem than the Australian Open, apparently.
Nick Kyrgios was holding what, by all accounts, was a pretty relaxed news conference following his straight-sets defeat of Rogerio Dutra Silva in the first round of the Australian Open. Then, a journalist ventured a peculiar question about former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who began kneeling during the national anthem in 2016 to protest systemic racial inequality, among other causes. The question to Kyrgios ran as follows:
Youre friends with the American football player Colin Kaepernick and supportive of him in the past, the reporter asked. What are your thoughts on his not being signed by an American football team this season?
I dont think Ive ever spoken to him in my life, Kyrgios replied.
But what are your thoughts about that? the reporter persisted.
I mean, I dont even Where does that question even come from? Kyrgios shot back. Were at the Australian Open, man. Immediately afterward, Kyrgios ended the news conference.

People are getting tired of BS all the time.
LOL
Apparently, journalists now feel empowered to tell other people who their friends are.
ESPN “reporter”?
They seem obsessed with race and Colin’s “unemployment”
American Media infecting the rest of the world with it’s unique brand of stupidity.
One of the best interviews of Kyrigos life and he tells it as he sees it. I know he is raw, but I love his game and if he ever gets rid of his demons he will dominate tennis. Really, they are asking Kyrigos, an Australian in Australia at the Australian Open what he thinks about a US political issue?
It’s like the time NBC kept insisting on calling a Canadian negress olympic winner an “Afro-American woman” during an interview, much to her annoyance.
I believe the networks also once called Nelson Mandela an African-American. The media just isn’t smart, but it makes up for that by being very self-centered.
Hey, they both coloreds, and all coloreds, you know, they, like you know, all think and talk the same, man.
The stirring is BS but the article adds,
“Kaepernick hasnt played in the NFL since the 2016 season, and protests exploded across the NFL in the wake of President Donald Trumps criticism of the league in general and Kaepernick in particular. Kyrgios knelt prior to a Laver Cup match in September, the same weekend NFL players began a concerted protest against Trumps words, but Kyrgios said at the time it was a personal tribute. (Kyrgios has made his feelings about Trump known; he did an interview about a year ago with a T-shirt bearing the image of Trump with devil horns.)”
So.., yeah.
There both black , so that automatically makes them friends. So whos the racist?
Hes not black, hes half Greek half Aborigine.
Nicky was finally getting his head on straight.
What? Didn’t he want to take the opportunity to help the cause? He was setup so nicely too.
Racist reporter thought all dark skinned athletes party together.
Points to the tennis player for not rising to the bait.
They didnt name the reporter. Boo
No difference in the eyes of a brain-dead Leftist reporter.
