Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen confirmed Tuesday that her department has asked federal prosecutors to see if they can lodge criminal charges against sanctuary cities that refuse to cooperate with federal deportation efforts.
The Department of Justice is reviewing what avenues may be available, Ms. Nielsen told the Senate Judiciary Committee.
Her confirmation came after Californias new sanctuary law went into effect Jan. 1, severely restricting cooperation the state or any of its localities could offer.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Director Tom Homan says those policies put his officers and local communities at more risk because they have to arrest illegal immigrants out in the community.
Mr. Homan told The Washington Times last July that he wanted to see local officials charged as complicit in human smuggling if they shielded illegal immigrants through sanctuary policies.

If they were to arrest Austin Mayor/County Sheriff/others this place would blow sky-high with moonbats going nuclear apeshit.
Please do Austin first!
California Attorney General Xavier Becerra should be the first one arrested.
Wouldn’t sanctuary cities be the perfect place for human sex traffickers to import sex slaves?
Thank-you Santa!
I knew I was nice last year.
What about Hillary?
Shes still on my list.
“asking to see if they can file criminal charges” is different than “preparing to arrest”.
....and they are so easily distracted...........plus the ignorant putzes don’t realize they are publishing his agenda for everyone to see.....................free of charge!..........
But it does mean, “We want to.”................
Exactly so.................
No one cares but I advocated this long ago. We have classic obstruction of justice and aiding and abetting a felon in flight. These are major felony convictions and are directed by actual individuals that are ascertainable and subject to federal prosecution. This is not even a stretch. This is criminal activity per se and there is no immunity. I read this was a factor in Miami when it ditched the sanctuary ploy. ( very wise).
Now what we have is DHS and ICE making criminal referrals for prosecution — not in communist Washington DC but in actual American jurisdictions that apply law with real grand juries. The problem is Jeff Sessions who appears to be an illusion — a vapor— a ghost . Im not even sure he is still alive. He is a memory . He is hurting Trump very badly and what ever is left of him should recuse further activity in government. These are crimes that he has sworn to punish and he does nothing but chase MS13 and there is SO MUCH TO DO!! like put these criminal government leaders in PRISON!!
YEAH!!!!! PRAY FREEPERS!
This has been too long in coming. In NJ, Murphy is bragging about this. He ran a campaighn on this. All the illegals in northern NJ are having a ball. Remember 9/11? The Muzzies were celebrating in North jersey.
Cal should be completely reformed or let them leave the Union. It is about time the law is enforced.
“Start with San Fran. Invite the Steinle family to come down and watch.”
Well, it’s good to know that San Francisco’s mayor, Ed Lee, just croaked in a grocery store a couple of weeks ago. Maybe there are “forces at work.”
All it would take is one successful arrest and prosecution of a mayor, city manager, and chief of police to get EVERYONES attention!
Make it happen!! Enforce the law!!
Thank you Jesus
I will wait to see if the DOJ comes back with a good answer before I declare this good news.
In the mean time, it's worth noting that the DHS is doing their job.
“California Attorney General Xavier Becerra should be the first one arrested.”
YES! He was on FNC the other night and I could not believe the stupid drivel he was spewing. It would be really good if we could deport him back to Mexico.
Then get on with it.
