Democrats and the media think they have the golden bullet to take down Trump, in the form of the sthole comment during DACA negotiations behind closed doors.
There are conflicting claims and reports as to whether the term was used, and to whom he was referring if it were used. Original reports said it was mentioned in relation to Haiti, but that has been walked back. Whether you agree with the comment or not, assuming it were used, it hardly merits the current obsession, with no sign of letting up. Its 24/7. Many Republicans are asking only how high they have to jump in condemning Trump.
But as Ann Althouse pointed out, theres nothing inherently racist is the term unless you believe the worst about majority non-white countries. In which case you might be the racist:
Shithole is a perfectly good rude, slangy word. It has a great history, and its vivid and effective. It is not a racial term, and shame on the people who are making it racist. I wonder if these people ever think of the pain and damage they are causing by proclaiming and insisting upon a connection between dark skin and excrement. Theyre revealing whats in their head, and they dont mind burdening dark-skinned people with the knowledge that they are being thought about like that.
Trump and two Republican Senators present deny the term was used, others present have observed a curious near-silence or have obfuscated, but Dick Durbin has been front and center asserting that the term was used.
If Durbin is lying, it wouldnt be the first time.
In 2013 Durbin claimed that an unnamed Republican, in a closed door meeting with Obama and Speaker John Boehner, said I cannot even stand to look at you. Both the White House and Boehner denied that statement was made.
Durbin also claims Trumps use of the term chain migration during the negotiation was racist, even though Durbin has used the term in the past.
The Washington Post did not say in its article disclosing the alleged Trump comment who the source was. But given Durbins history of lying about comments made behind closed doors and deliberate attempt to portray chain migration as a racist term, its reasonable to believe it was Durbin or someone acting for Durbin.
Why would Durbin deliberately seek to blow up the negotiations? John Hinderaker makes a good point, aside from Durbins history of doing such things:
This story is a good illustration of the bizarre times in which we live. Trump made a good point in a private meeting with a small number of legislators. He may have used profanity while doing so, but he wasnt making a speech. His political enemy, Dick Durbin, then ran to the press to damage Trump by quotingprobably misquotinghis private comments. The press jumped on the story eagerly, assuming Durbins account was correct and happily damaging Americas interests, as Democrats and Democratic reporters smugly told us was happening. Lost in the shuffle was the fact that Trump is right about immigrationchain migration and the lottery are crazy and need to go, in favor of a merit-based systemand a large majority of Americans agree with him.
The negotiations were not going Durbins way. Trump was taking a much harder line than expected. So Durbin went for the Hail Mary pass, to make it into a racism issue. The sthole press strategy was just part of it, as was the chain migration terminology.
Durbin wasnt going to get his way on DACA, so he blew it up, figuring it will be better as a campaign issue.
He will likely be in the next group of pedos jailed.
I think wherever Dick Turbin is, is a Sh#$%ole precisely because it describes him in it.
Durban hurts the Party he belongs to. He has not solved any of the problems he wants to fix. The people who follow him might just as well jump off of a bridge to no where.
No sign of letting up , LOL, BBC dropped it as their Attack on Trump so it’s fake ,
There is also the fact the POS Judge took away Trumps leverage in the middle of negotiations. Notice, right on cue, MSM started using “family based migration” instead of chain migration. Sounds wonderful right? I mean who could be against family based migration?
They are afraid Trump will succeed, proving they have failed.
So the name calling continues. They have nothing else in the play book.
I believe it too. The Democrats don’t want security or a wall.
There is nothing racist about latrines.
tl;dr Obviously.
The establishment does not want a deal. They’re happy with the way things are.
To change that happiness, Trump will have to enforce current law about deportation and the prosecution of employers. He will have to track down visa overstays and begin random ICE visits to likely illegal alien locations.
That also is the current system.
That’s ok.
Deport every single dreamer.
This was done because Dems NEVER intended to vote for a wall..they don’t want a wall, they want open borders so these people can flood into the country, get food stamps, welfare, and vote Democrat..Dems know if there is a wall NO MORE Democrat vots..so they needed something to ruin the plan so Dick “Vets are Nazi’s” Durbin made up this bogus quote to weasel his way out of the deal
Every day brings a new golden bullet that turns out to be fools gold. The Dems and the drive-bys occupy the same sh**hole.
That’s what I’ve said too. They’ll try to blame Trump for losing DACA but he’ll just show the quote (that drove most FReepers crazy) saying he’d sign any deal they brought him. Those of us who trust Trump knew he had a reason for saying that and now you see what it was. He’d either get the Wall or he’d get the democrats to screw themselves over.
It’s likely that the President did not say that word after all.
GOP senator Perdue comes to Trump’s defense after ‘s-—hole’ outcry, questions Durbin’s credibility

Both Perdue and Cotton said that Durbin lied about the President saying that word. Problem is, that news came out the day after and was only on the front page of Fox News for a few hours.
Dirty Dick Durbin really is a walking, talking A-hole, IMO.
I think Trump could do the same.
