We are to suspend reality and let historians and others that claim to have been close to MLK tell us what they think he would believe on today's problems and challenges. Most all are wrong and have no real credibility.
King has been gone almost 50 years and those that were the closest to him are all gone also. All we have have left are those that were on the peripheral like John Lewis and Jesse Jackson, who have made careers out of their alleged close ties to King. Those two, especially, are frauds and charlatans.
In my life time we have made Paper Tiger Heroes out of the fallen like JFK, Robert Kennedy and Martin Luther King, they all had feet of clay and none were perfect. Yet we have made them into Martyrs for some cause that fits an agenda.
The reality is that if they had lived, their reality would be much different that the Myths we have made up for them.
All I can say is, Thank God nobody shot Obama. Can you just imagine if he’d been a martyr.

You are right about that. All through his time in office I cringed at that thought. Of course that could still happen now but the impact would be somewhat muted, still it would be bad.

Most of us are well aware of MLKs nasty side. Went to college with the son of an FBI that guarded MLK. The orgies with a dozen naked people prancing around in some luxury hotel suite were well known then, but completely disregarded now.
Wasn’t there some charity that claimed “a mind was a terrible thing to waste?”
Underneath black rights since before King has always been Eugene Debs and Victor Berger

Of course not - but it is easier to solve a fake problem (you can claim at any time it was fixed, because there were no symptoms to start) than to address things that really mattered to King - like educating blacks so we could do away with the racist insult of “affirmative action”. When the NAACP got on board with those who would still outlaw the education of negroes (the political arm of the teachers’ unions - the Democratic Party), then black parents seeking real education for their children were screwed. The Dems will allow no education reform, including fighting against vouchers and charter schools which have been proven to help black students, and the NAACP will still steer black voters to support Dem candidates.
