Liberals will pay lip service to Dr. King. But the hard fact is that the American Left has long since abandoned Dr. King.
(In Kings I have a dream speech he gave) A salute to the Declaration of Independence. To the Constitution. And most critically, the demand that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.
Sadly, the American Left believes none of this today. The poison of identity politics is merely the modern version of the segregation that Dr. King would give his life fighting to end. It is, as noted here often enough, the son of segregation and the grandson of slavery.
Today, to believe as Dr. King did that people should not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character is to be seen as racist. (Or, as ex-CNNer Soledad OBrien said of me for daring to believe as did Dr. King a stone cold racist.) Up is now down, and down is now up.
Somewhere Dr. King is shaking his head in disgust. Having literally given his life to fight this kind of racist garbage, there, in 2018 America in the 21st century a full fifty years after his death and fifty-five years after his I Have a Dream speech the pitch is made in the Party of Race to ensure that America is always judging people by the color of their skin and not the content of their character in a colorblind America.
What a disgrace.

Allegedly there’s audio of an orgy and he requests a gentleman present himself for oral. The link says some people think it was merely “ribald repartee”.

I read that article when it came out. The problem, however, remains that a lot of the allegations were never fully verified. Raw FBI files could contain any allegation someone could possibly make against the person, even if untrue. The prostitute stuff is known, even the orgies, though if he participated on male-on-male stuff, I don’t know about that. I know the FBI had tapes that corroborated his sexual indiscretions.
The far-left political stuff was known, too. He went to the Communist Highlander Folk School here in my state of TN. He abhorred Conservatism, which would’ve gone a long way to resolving problems within the Black community, which instead of getting better, have worsened beyond comprehension in the 54 years since the 1964 Civil Rights Act. He believed activist (leftist) government was the solution, which of course has proven to be demonstrably false.
I’ve never believed he was individually worthy of a national holiday. Not even Washington and Lincoln have a set-aside for them, just a generic “President’s Day.” I think it’s a grave disservice to the countless men and women of far higher moral standings and personal bravery that they are effectively ignored and all essentially credited to MLK, Jr. as the be-all and end-all of Black Civil Rights. What about Douglass ? What about Booker T. Washington ? What about Medgar Evers ? What about Harriet Tubman ? The courageous early Black Republican elected officials from the 19th century, now all but forgotten ?
Even the irony of designating February as Black History Month, the shortest month of the year, seems to be lost on countless souls.
He lived the life of a rock star, really. Some of this wild sexual stuff, though, could really get you in trouble. It got Sam Cooke killed.
Steve McNair, too.
I’m in Nashville, too.
Wow, what a story.
Yup. Movie star looks, charisma, God-gifted voice. Ends up dead on the floor of a flea-trap motel, enraged his date ditched him and attacking the lady manager (who was armed). All for nothing. What a waste.
From now on, my FR screen name is Martin Luther Skypilot - and anyone who refuses to acknowledge that is probably a racist.
