Chelsea Manning, the former US army private who was imprisoned for passing information to WikiLeaks, has filed to run for a seat in the US Senate.... federal election filing, made on Thursday, confirmed Mannings intention to run in the November elections as a Democrat.
Manning, now 30, was sentenced in 2013 to 35 years in jail, for her part in the 2010 leak of more than 700,000 documents and videos to news outlets including the Guardian and the New York Times....Manning, who was formerly known as Bradley and who attempted suicide while in prison, is now a writer and activist who has been a columnist for the Guardian.
Her sentence was commuted by President Obama

This confused mess of a human being fits right in with the Democrat party.
Sure do.
His sentence was commuted, he was not pardoned. In most states he would be barred from running for the Senate since he is a convicted felon, but not Maryland. So now we have another question . Suppose he wins ? If Moore had won. they were all ready to not seat him and hold an ethics investigation all on unsubstantiated claims. Here we have a convicted felon. Will they refuse to seat him ? I doubt it.
I’ll give him 50/50 on getting the democrat nomination....this sick bastard is a dream candidate to them!!!
It’s gona take some time to unsee this!!!

It can’t hold any U.S. office. I predict that it will win the primary and if it wins the election, that it will not be seated in the Senate. Hand Grenades being thrown everywhere by the mentally ill dems.
Dementia is a terrible thing.
Maryland is such a freak state, he fits right in.
Obama commuted his sentence but did not pardon him. I am pretty sure that his felony Espionage Act conviction precludes him from ever holding federal office.
For the wierdo-islamist party.
Manning isn't going to win. Manning won't even be on the ticket. Democrats aren't stupid enough to field unelectable candidates for seats they need. That idiocy is left to Republican primary voters.
This is what happens when traitors are coddled.
Frankly if Maryland insists on electing democrats, I hope it’s him/her/it. Well played, Maryland!
Convicted felons running for Senate...
between her and Giuseppe Arpaio, it’s a disgrace.
I left Italy to get away from this sort of systemic corruption!
This dude has an awfully high opinion of himself, doesnt he? Just shows how living in a bubble with a high echo effect can warp your sense of reality.
Dont be so sure. Cardin is not a particularly distinguished Senator and at 75, a further demonstration of the aging Democratic leadership that it has to overcome.
Manning brings a story compelling to much of the Democratic base and those who arent compelled by it, will keep their mouths shut for fear of being branded bigots. The opportunity to elect not only the first transsexual Senator and gratuitously insult traditionally minded Americans may not be one the Dems would pass up.
He was a nut-case before his military service, while in it and all that’s followed....major attention hound.
This is the greatest thing ever... though I’m not sure Manning can unseat Cardin.
The MD dems will get out the minority vote during the primary to vote AGAINST Manning, that’s a given.
They're not going to sacrifice the seat. Winning elections is far more important to Democrats than virtue signaling. Democrats understand better than Republicans do that the best way to effect change is by putting Democrats in office.
Republican primary voters haven't figured this out yet and still believe it is better that the guy you agree with 100% of the time loses than the guy you agree with only 90% of the time wins (hence the "Roy Moore for Senate" and now "Joe Arpaio for Senate" idiocy).
