WASHINGTON (AP) - A bipartisan agreement among a handful of senators to prevent deportation of hundreds of thousands of young immigrants includes a pathway to citizenship that would take up to 12 years.
The Associated Press on Saturday obtained details of the deal that includes $1.6 billion for structures including a wall for border security.
The agreement between three Republican and three Democratic senators would prevent deportation of hundreds of thousands of so-called Dreamers, who were brought to this country as children and are here illegally.
President Donald Trump and some GOP congressional leaders have said the bipartisan deal is insufficient. Its proponents - led by Sens. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., and Lindsey Graham, R-S.C. - say they are continuing to round up supporters in hopes of building momentum for their plan.
Political battle lines intensified following Trump’s vulgar description of African nations and derogatory comments about Haiti at a White House meeting last Thursday, and its fate is uncertain.

Before George W. Bush was President, Virginia was Republican, low crime and English speaking.
Lindsey Graham has repeatedly said he would keep voting for amnesty until he is removed from office.
That is true of all of the Amnesty Senators, McCain, Alexander, Corker, Flake, Hatch, Heller, Hoeven, Murkowsky and Rubio.
We have 5 Senators on the side of the citizens and the rule of law. Cotton, Grassley, Paul, Perdue and Cruz.
We need many more.

To me, that seems like the most fair to everyone involved.
It respects the citizen’s point of view, and that of the illegal immigrant as well.
It’s within the law.

After every inch of the wall is complete, the 12 years starts.. otherwise mr heart for dreamers is lying along with the rest of the GOP. Until the wall is complete there is no amnesty.. We are being lied too and it starts at the top. Ridiculous kabuki. No wall no way 2018& 2020.

It’s interesting to me that they talk of people being over high school age, but do not address how many had completed high school.
There seems to be an inference there, that is not true. 71% of these people cannot speak English, other than ver poor English. That leads me to believe they did not finish high school.
This is an immigration reform advocacy group, and It seems to me they are coming at this from the side that wants DACA approved.
Right now we have over 70 million foreign born people in the U. S., and that’s just official estimates. Keep in mind that state we have roughly the same number of illegal aliens here now, that we had in 2000. Most of us think there is closer to 30 million her now. That’s 19 million more tha the official estimate.
This means we may have as much as 89 million foreign born here.
We have about 325 million people in the U. S. right now. We’re talking about over 25% of our populace that thinks of their birth country and it isn’t the U. S.
I am not a big believer that immigration today is as healthy as it was in our figurative formative years.
In a way, I think Obama typifies this. People are led to believe the U. S. is an evil place in parts and f the world. People don’t always come here wide eyed and thinking, now I’M AN AMERICAN.
71% of illegal aliens either can’t speak English at all (25%) or can only barely speak a little English. These people are NOT interested in becoming part of us. They are interested in living in areas that are like the old country. And this they are turning those areas into.
It needs to stop.
How many DUIs will they be allowed in 12 years under this deal?
