Norways prime minister told President Donald Trump on Wednesday that her country remains committed to the Paris climate agreement, making the business case of the green economy to the real estate developer-turned president.
Prime Minister Erna Solberg noted that many Norwegians drive U.S.-made Tesla electric cars and said her country saw tremendous economic and business opportunities as nations around the world fight climate change.
Norway is combatting climate change its an important issue for us and we are committed to the Paris agreement, Solberg said during a joint news conference with Trump.
We could conceivably go back in, Trump reiterated. But he added, The Paris accord really would have taken away our competitive edge and were not going to let that happen Im not going to let that happen.
Solberg, by contrast, cited her support of the agreement, which she said would help American businesses.
Encouraged by generous government tax credits, about one-third of Norwegians drive zero-emission electric cars many of them American-made Teslas.
Trumps meeting with Solberg was the first foreign leader visit with the president in 2018.
Norway has sought to be an international leader in efforts to reduce planet-warming carbon emissions. While the Scandinavian country remains a major exporter of oil and gas, the Norwegian government was among the first to sign on to the landmark Paris climate deal, pledging to meet a 40 percent reduction in carbon emissions by 2030.

LOL I didnt even catch that! You are so right. If they really thought the fossil fuels caused climate change, and they really wanted to limit the use of them, then why are they even selling it? Greedy hypocrites indeed!
Its just like the left here. They want the rest of us to live in tiny houses and ride bicycles to work, while they have huge mansions and SUVs.
Notice that they are tax credits, not subsidies.
A regular old Ford Mustang costs more in Norway because of taxes than a Ferrari does in America.
OK, greens, explain how we can keep our standard of living by gutting our energy production. And you can start by going off the grid yourselves.
no I didnt notice they were credits. I guess thats marginally better. Thanks for the info.
So I guess when I Google Norways economy and see how the per capita salary is $89,000, they need every penny of that since the cost of living is so high. Still, seems like they are doing better than the other European countries, by exploiting fossil fuels that they claim to hate.
Let's bring in more of those Scandinavians!
If we should question the idea that President Trump said a certain word, I also wonder if he actually said what he's alleged to have said about having more Norwegian immigrants.
Maybe the truth about what he said remains to be told, but leftists have often said before that Europeans are more sophisticated than Americans--too many of which cling to their guns and religion. Why, then, shouldn't we make America a bit more European?
Leftists are projecting their own eugenic views and population control views onto Trump - who needs to just stick with getting a good deal for us with regard to DACA, wall, banning anchor babies etc...without fanfare.
I am pretty sure out abortion rate is a lot lower than that of the American one.
It’s not that complicated. He had just met the Norwegian prime minister, so Norway was naturally on the tip of his tongue.
And, he is right in general. For, America it would be a lot better with more Norwegian immigrants than Haitians.
Of course, there are certain Haitians individuals who are exceptional, but needle in a haystack comes to mind.
So?
Follow the Australian approach. Evaluate potential immigrants. Smart? Education? Compatibal culture?
Pass all these tests?
Welcome to America.
Maybe, though any of these rates is too high.
I've said something like this before and will say it again: any culture with "safe," legal, and common abortions isn't very cultured, no matter how shiny the houses are or how clean the toilets are.
(In other words, the question of whether the United States is a "Christian country" is more complicated than a simple "yes" or "no." It may be what some people call "culturally Christian," no pun intended, but our laws should follow our professions.)
