The raises, or the closing of a lot of Sam’s Clubs?
That tax law worked pretty well for those Sam’s Club employees that just got whacked.
Do NOT get too frakin’ happy there, Rush, cause those of us that do intermingle daily with the average Joe can tell you otherwise. I have a couple friends that work at a local Super Walmart where I live and they both have told me that the wages are indeed increasing, but with a price, Rush - reduced hours!
I didnt read it all but Im assuming the latest Sams Club news wasnt addressed. Those cuts and closings are probably something that has been in the works for some time. Costco is killing them. Along with Amazon and online shopping in general. Also, Kroger has implemented drive up service. You order all of your groceries online and simply drive over and they place the groceries in your car.
Poor Rush. Showed up and there was no water to carry!
Politics is a scam and were suckers for playing.
Folks, stores that are not making money, should be closed.
That keeps the company healthy.
As Capitalists, we all know that.
Whining about folks who lost their jobs isn’t reasoned here.
Walmart could have just closed the stores and given no raises.
The hike will also increase the average hourly pay at Wal-Mart for full-time employees to $14.50 from a current $13.85. The payscale for hourly workers will be from $11 to $24.70 per hour, the company said. The company raised its minimum wage to $9 an hour in 2015.
It’s not just the tax cut, but also the lack of people still willing to work for peanuts combined with crackdown on illegals. Plus the competition has raised wages so WalMart has no option but to follow. The law of supply and demand have not been repealed, so we will see wages rising everywhere as businesses struggle to fill jobs (assuming Trump can hold the line on H1Bs and illegals).
Would be great to see WalMart provide sufficient benefits so its workers can drop off food stamps and Obamacare, but I’m not holding my breath.
In the mean time, the close many stores across the nation. Including the only Sams club in Fairbanks. It was always busy, it was profitable.
This is profound.
